The staff were so kind and incredibly helpful! I think the location is perfect for seeing the center of the city and most drivers know where this hotel is too or you can tell them to go to the Japanese embassy which is right next door!
It is near a number of Embassies and consulting firms like KPMG or Deloitte, so quality of foreigners is somewhat better than other places with mostly English teachers or companies of mining/manufacturing/construction industries.
It has three restaurants downstairs and were mostly modest Mongolians who seemed to be from well educated/disciplined families.
There is a club-ish lounge for young people across the road but people were not loud or trashy around the entrance as I experience in US cities.
I stayed only for one night on Saturday due to the city's utilities maintenance caused the area (where my main hotel was) to lose hot water that day, but I would consider staying here next time in Mongolia.
Booked double deluxe rooms received a standard room and had to pay extra to upgrade the room
No hot water
Poor service and communication

There was no hot shower the entire time. I asked and they send me to a lower level room to shower as they claim mine (top floor) does not work. Bottom floor did not work either. I got sick when I got home.
Mika feels like an old friend, since I've stayed here when it first was accredited as a 3 star hotel in 2003. Coming back after all this time has been a great time. I've actually stayed a few more days than listed, because I came back and paid cash for the second stint. It's close enough to everywhere you'll want to go, with 24 hour CU and GS stores very close by, and cab drivers know it.
Be mindful of whether you're a morning person or an evening person because you should choose an East or West side. The gated parking area is nice for security and there are three different restaurants on site for food and entertainment close to your room. Some of the staff speaks English, and there's good Wi-Fi coverage everywhere including the restaurants, you just have to ask.
The beds are quite comfortable in some units, firm in others I would go with the queen size or better. Some of the bathrooms are a little tight and feel cramped, but a pleasant overall experience. Parties on the ground floor can get rowdy, but you can close your windows. Choose a higher floor if you need total quiet.

My stay was pleasant. Simple breakfast is offered free in the morning, and the pho restaurant is open for pay for lunch and dinner. Wifi signal is strong.
I only have issue on plumbing (shower drain does not work well).
The hotel is near embassies and Shangri-la hotel. You can also walk to the main square from Mika hotel.
