"The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfy and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet in the morning was also excellent. The hotel itself is a bit secluded which I enjoyed, and the closest town, Selfoss, is about 15-20min drive so be mindful of that if you prefer to be somewhere that’s walkable to Selfoss. Overall it’s a great location. Very scenic and easy access to the Golden Circle and South Coast, and just 1-hour outside of Reykjavik if you want to visit the city."

"Lovely secluded location. Cozy lounge and dining area. The rooms are very bare-bones and lacking in amenities but are comfortable. All the staff are lovely, including all of the four-legged friends."

"I stay at the Eldhestar whenever it is available. Being a photographer, I travel to Iceland a lot (19 times in the last three years). This hotel has the most bang for your buck. Great rooms, nice people, and you get to say hello to the horses each morning on your way out. Near the Golden Circle, Reykjavík, the south coast, and even a day trip to Jökulsárlón is easily doable. I always come back to Eldhestar, and will continue to do so."

"Hello, I would like to report some issues with my room. The temperature in the room is extremely hot and uncomfortable, and there does not seem to be a proper way to cool it down. Also, the toilet seat/height is unusually high and uncomfortable to use. In addition, the bathroom floor is very dirty and does not appear to have been cleaned properly."
