I booked this apartment months in advance knowing it did not have air conditioning. However, my 5 night stay coincided with one of the most extreme heatwaves in Vienna's history (hitting 40°C/104°F). My issue isn't the lack of A/C, but how concerns were handled.
Before arrival, I asked whether the apartment stayed cool and whether a fan was available. I was told it was “cool and pleasant." After the first night, it was clear this did not reflect the actual conditions, and I again requested a fan, which was refused.
Only after spending 75 minutes working with admin support was a fan finally arranged and delivered. While I appreciated receiving it, I was disappointed it required platform intervention to address a basic comfort need during extreme weather.
Communication throughout was also difficult. I had to ask about supplies as well as Wi-Fi access. The arrival instructions were poorly written, which resulted in me searching up and down the street for 30 minutes at 1am.
On day 1, there was a cockroach on the kitchen counter next to the silverware, which was concerning from a cleanliness standpoint.
I don't blame the host for issues outside their control (heatwave, temporary power outage). What left the strongest impression was that guest well-being did not appear to be the priority when a legitimate problem arose. Beyond just providing a place to stay, hosting is about responding promptly when guests need help. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this property.
