"While this property shows promise, there are several significant concerns that warrant serious attention.Most critically, during our stay we experienced a safety incident in which a barn door in the bathroom became dislodged while being opened. The door nearly struck my children, and was only prevented from causing injury because I was able to catch it in time. This type of structural hazard is unacceptable & requires immediate remediation, not a temporary fix. The bathrooms & rooms overall are in need of proper, thorough renovation (stains on wall + sink). When I brought this safety concern to the attention of the Front Office Manager, Attonayo Branch, I found his response to be dismissive & unprofessional. Rather than acknowledging the severity of the incident, he stated he was unaware of the issue and indicated he was preoccupied with billing & the volume of check-ins. This level of response is inadequate when a guest’s safety, particularly that of children, has been compromised. I want to note that the maintenance team & front desk staff handled the situation with genuine empathy & professionalism, which I appreciated. While the marina views and proximity to Hampton University are appealing, they don’t offset safety hazards, deferred maintenance, or deficiencies in management-level leadership. I strongly encourage ownership & senior management to review both the physical condition of the rooms & the guest-relations standards expected of managerial staff. "

"Unfortunately, the property was experiencing hot-water issues, which the owners knew about. When we first arrived after a 6 hr drive, we did not have hot water, and did not get hot water until late the next day. We were informed by the plumber that this issue affected previous renters, and I would encourage the owners to have it fully resolved before renting again. "

"The location of the house was next to an interstate under construction. Very noisy at night hearing cars and trucks driving across the interstate, difficult to sleep. The lake on the side of the house was a nice view. The house was a nice size for our family of 6, but wasn't as clean as we would have liked it to be. The vents in the ceiling were filthy, which could cause health issues. The furniture in the bedrooms was not dusted thoroughly and the twin bed had hair follicles on the sheets when we pulled the covers back. Some of the kitchen drawers were off track, and the ice maker didn't work until the last day we were there. Found a dirty dish in the cabinet.One of the garage doors would only open half way. No code to open the garage from the outside. In the living room and one of the bedrooms, there are confederate items displayed. In the living room, there is a picture of a confederate officer on the wall, and a chess set displaying confederate soldiers and other statues on the board. The owners may want to be cognizant of the fact that those displays could be offensive to customers that stay at the property. "

"The check-in process was seamless. We did have a breakdown in communication, with an issue that arose with the stove top. Lisa did explain the delay in communication, but that was after we had already checked out. The house was pretty clean other than the oven, but it was also not used during our stay. "
