Epic Maui Adventure On a Shoestring Budget

Come Explore Maui in this powerful, automatic, 2016 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. Suzie comes fully stocked with all the camping gear you need, at no extra cost.

Heads up: All drivers must:
* Pay our $15 per day insurance and roadside assistance fee
* Have your own primary car insurance or purchase daily coverage with
RentalCover
* Have a valid driver's license
* Be at least 23years of age

The space: Suzie is amazing for groups of 2, and can easily handle groups of 4 if you are willing to pack light. We throw in an extra ground tent for sleeping outside.


*Suzie is equipped with a
1. rooftop tent (400 lb weight capacity/ladder weight capacity:300 lb) with built in mattress that comfortably sleeps 2.
2. Pillows, sheets, blankets, beach towels, kitchen towels
3. Sturdy folding table with 2 benches
5. 2 beach chairs
6. Sweet blowup hammock
7. 1 soft cooler/1 hard cooler
8. A camp stove w/ propain
9. 1 pot, 1 pan, 1 coffee percolator
10. Cooking utensils and silverware
11. cups, bowls, plates

--Guest access:
Our location is an easy 10-15 minute Uber/Lyft from Kahului Airport (OGG). We are usually available to hand you the keys, and answer any questions at the time of pick up. In rare cases, we may have you self check-in with a lockbox code.

Great experience, despite some logistical mixups

The hosts were great - very informative about the vehicle and gave great tips for the area. The book they lent us definitely improved our Road to Hana experience. All of the camping supplies were in great shape and worked well. There was a mixup with our reservation and we ended up with the van rather than the Jeep with rooftop tent. The hosts did everything in their power to make it up to us by offering a generous discount and early check-in at no additional cost. While it turned out the early check-in wasn't actually available, we got stuck on the Road to Hana trying to get back on time and ended up with an unplanned late check-out that they didn't charge us for. So it all evened out in the end.The vehicle itself was good (again, this is the van I'm reviewing, not the Jeep shown in the photos). It had its share of bumps and bruises, but nothing that impacted its drivability. The only thing that was slightly annoying was we weren't supposed to roll down the left passenger window because it has a tendency to get stuck. As for sleeping, the van was long enough for my 6'3" husband. We could have used a little more padding than just the futon, but it was sleepable. The popup tent was easy to set up and the kids loved the inflatable couch, even though sleeping in it wasn't as feasible as they had hoped.Overall, we enjoyed our time and were grateful to find an affordable way to enjoy Maui on our own without having to book expensive hotels and tour guides.

Susi was Perfect!

It was the perfect car for the island. It’s very nice for driving difficult roads. The camping gear is everything you need to have a great time. Also the rooftop tent is very easy to use and super comfortable.

Incredible hosts

The property was amazing, had all what we needed and more for our adventure in Maui. Cecile and Jay were super nice and helpful all times. Very communicative and friendly. I’d totally choose them again, they go above and beyond. Mahalo!

Camping in Hana

We had a wonderful time with the jeep and tent! Pick up was very easy, Cecily was great and came out to explain everything to us. We drove to Hana and camped at Kipahulu the first night, Wai'anapanapa State Park our second night. We went slow, let locals pass, honked at blind corners and the drive felt fine. The waterfalls were incredible, and we made sure we weren’t swimming on private land or in sacred spaces. The park rangers were helpful in letting us know which falls were ok to swim in. We had all the gear we needed and as two adults and a 6 year old appreciated the extra tent! It rained on and off throughout the night and we stayed completely dry. It was a great way to experience the east side of the island without having to drive in one day. Visited Hamoa and Koki beach both gorgeous, stopped at Caroline’s fruit stand, locally owned, had fresh coconut and the most amazing smoothie made from nothing but fresh fruit. Bought the most beautiful lei for my daughter from a small roadside stand in front of a home. Lots of interesting stuff about the history of the coastal villages at Haleakalā we didn’t have enough time to appreciate. Highly recommend, was a great experience overall!

Amazing car and camping equipment!

We absolutely loved getting to use this car. The hosts were extremely helpful with providing extra blankets and a tarp since the weather mentioned rain. We love how organized the trunk was with the camping gear. It is a tight squeeze back there, so not many more items would fit. Plenty of enough space for 2 people, since we used the backseat for our luggage. It would be a bit more difficult with more than 2. Check-in process was a bit difficult only because on the listing it said they can meet at the airport, when I inquired they said they no longer do that (for valid reasons) so expect to uber to their house. It isn't a far uber but you will spend at least $15 each way.

Great experience!

It was an amazing experience, would definitely recommend it to others. We did 4 nights in wai’napanapa state park and the vehicle did great going up and down the road to Hana and kings highway. The cooler, frying pan and pot could be a bit bigger, but all in all it was a great experience.

Beautiful place and location

We would definitely stay here again. The location is across the street from a popular beach. The hosts had everything we needed from beach towels, to beach chairs, even snorkel gear. The place was immaculate. We never used the on-site amenities due to our short time there and strict regulations but this place was perfect for us.

Best way to get around and camp on Maui

The vehicle was great, and did everything we needed to do. Our hosts had thought of everything, and it was very well stocked for camping. Set up was fairly easy and the tent was quite comfortable. Lots of information regarding camping locations, etc. was provided and it all worked out really well. We would definitely do it again.

Awesome trip

Camping sites list was provided but I was a bit late in the process which made things a little complicated, make sure you plan your stays ahead of time. Setting up the tent is very easy, even in the dark, the road to Hana is lots of fun in a jeep.

Perfect Car

Great Experience

Jeep camping

The Jeep camper had everything we needed for camping for a few days in Maui, from a pop up tent to a cozy topper tent and water, it was comfortable enough to call home for a few days

Great vehicle and camper

We had a great time with Suzie. We learned how to use everything very quickly and was able to set up camp or stop and cook quickly and easily. Very clean and well organized. We had a great time. Highly recommended if this is your kind of thing.
