    This spacious two-bedroom, one and a half bath, apartment is located in the garden level of a historical Capitol Hill rowhouse.

    There are eight stairs to enter the apartment at the front and a ground level entrance in the back.

    Guests have full access and complete privacy inside the apartment, interior courtyard and back patio.

    Guests may enjoy the alley behind the house, which is on Historical DC's walking tour. It features a speakeasy and 10 murals celebrating DC residents and landmarks, perfect for selfies and family pics. Its not uncommon to see a photoshoot or an artist painting in the alley.

    Host lives upstairs in a separate unit. Guests may occasionally hear soft sounds, which we promise are not ghosts of this 1880 rowhouse.

This cute basement apartment is within about a 45-60 min. walk or 10 minute Uber to Capitol Building. Beds & linens were comfortable and clean. Coffee was provided! The washer dryer and appliances all worked great, except for the manual can opener which needs replacement. Suggestion - Avoid walking on the nearby adjacent H street to the owner recommended casual restaurants unless you are comfortable with urban areas and passing by sketchy drunk men (some likely homeless). However, luckily nothing bad happened to us! Take an Uber if you aren't a risk taker. The street the property is directly situated on seems quite safe. The homes on the street are nicely kept up with the exception of a few nearby with overgrown front yard tall weeds. We used a bug blue light zapper (found in the washing machine closet) to mitigate the fly swarms inside the unit, likely emanating from a drain, directly outside the front door. Placement of a child on the living room couch isn't feasible because there are no front window privacy drapes or shades. My wife told me she thought she saw a homeless person digging in a garbage can right outside the front window on the first night and did not feel comfortable leaving our elementary school age child on the couch within view of the window. That shadowy person outside at night could very well have been the owner just placing his personal trash in that bin. Despite very typical urban area environmental circumstances I would stay here again!

Great little place in DC. Had everything that we needed and more. It’s approximately 1 1/2 miles to the Washington Mall area, so it’s definitely walkable. There are plenty of bicycle rentals in the area, and the Union Station is approximately 1 mile away, if you choose to use the metro. If I was in the area again, I would definitely stay here.

Great fresh and modern apartment in a wonderful historic home! Location is perfect of you are visiting for work or leisure in Capitol Hill or National Mall area. Walkable to several great restaurants and right on the C43 bus line--10 minutes to Union Station. Taxi and Uber fares as far away as Convention Center 12-15. My boys and I had a great stay and Brad is a great host.

Great location and lots of space in DC worked great for our kids, would stay again! We did have one issue and Brad took care of same day and was very responsive. Recommendation for parking is to look closely at the map provided before entering you have to make a right turn in the building alley that is hard to see, even more so at night. But the instructions provided are very helpful!
