Proper old English pub feel and atmosphere right in the heart of Winchester. Staff very helpful, friendly and clearly well trained. Food was excellent and of good value.
Good place to stay - would recommend to all travellers, except anyone who has a challenge climbing stairs. We loved our stay and found the staff very helpful and friendly.
Property managed to get it just right! Super historical and atmospheric yet still very comfortable. The bed was cozy and the rooms quiet. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would gladly stay here again. Breakfast was made to order and excellent!
Parking was tight yet present and free. Hotel was 3 blocks from city center and 2 blocks from cathedral. Perfect placement.
Do yourself a favor and choose to stay here!!
Great service and a beautiful room - we stayed in the bakehouse garden suite. Did was delicious and the bar was quirky with friendly and very helpful staff. Will stay again
We loved our stay here at the Wyckham arms. Our room was clean and beautiful and well appointed. The food and the staff were exceptional. The end was quaint and historical and although bustling with activity, it was a very quiet and lovely place to stay. Beds were great. Great! Toiletries were great. We loved it
You are living in a structure with tons of history. It is updated to a point but wants to always maintain its history. Quaint rooms that tell a story and transport you back in time. Breakfast was great and staff very accommodating.
Charming pub with lots of character. Stayed in the luxury double which was very comfortable with a lovely roll top bath and a shower with good power. Nice touch of homemade shortbread and a plentiful selection of tea and coffee in the room. The food in the restaurant was also delicious. Great place to stay for exploring Winchester
The wykeham is ideally placed for exploring Winchester its only a 5 minute walk to the Cathedral and the city centre. The staff were friendly and approachable at all times. Our room Kelsey was large and comfortable with a good shower. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice.
Here's a rephrased version:

Staying above a historic pub sounded charming in theory, but the experience didn't quite live up to it. The reception area was cramped and unclear — it wasn't obvious whether staff there were assisting restaurant diners or hotel guests.
Once in our room, it was clear the space hadn't been updated in quite some time. I understand wanting to preserve the historic character, but it would have gone a long way to pair that charm with some modern amenities. The room had no air conditioning and got quite hot and humid. I'd messaged ahead of our stay to ask about A/C but never got a reply — had I heard back, I likely would have rebooked somewhere with cooling. A fan was provided, but its filter clearly hadn't been cleaned in a while; when I asked staff to clean it, they weren't sure how. The peeling paint on the walls added to the overall sense of a room that needed attention.
On a brighter note, breakfast was a highlight — the eggs were cooked exactly to order, and the fruit selection was a nice touch.
Beautiful location, friendly staff. Near some good trails for walks/jogs

A characterful property.
My single room was extremely comfortable and very well equipped.
The staff were helpful and very efficient. The breakfast choices were abundant; continental, cereals as well as full breakfast etc.
The location was ideal with a short walk to the cathedral and shops.
My stay was faultless.
Whilst there is free carparking, it is quite a squeeze.

Lunch was wildly expensive but breakfast was good. It would have been helpful to know we were on the 3rd floor no elevators and tiny circular stairs. For those with some mobility challenges it’s a hike!
