The historic town of Wiscasset is fondly known as the prettiest village in Maine, it overlooks the Sheepscot River, (which you have amazing views of from our home !) and is around 45 minutes from Portland. Fun fact : When Maine first became a state in 1820, the village was in the running for state capital, but lost because of its proximity to the ocean. The town was also home to two of the most photographed objects in Maine: Hesper and Luther Little, two schooners abandoned near the U.S. 1 bridge. You don’t have to walk far to witness Wiscasset’s historical charm—there are interesting sites on just about every corner. In the downtown streets, you’ll find a range of restaurants, shops, and attractions, including the 1812 Jail, the Lilac Cottage, the Wiscasset General Store, the Musical Wonder House, and the Octagon House. In the downtown streets, you’ll find a range of restaurants, shops, and attractions, including the 1812 Jail, the Lilac Cottage, the Wiscasset General Store, the Musical Wonder House, and the Octagon House. If you really want to get away from the old and try something new, with a bit of adventure, Monkey C Monkey Do is Maine’s only zip line and adventure park. With over 50 obstacles, ranging from 12 to 50 feet high, guests can also test out one of the eight zip lines and the giant swing. The course is fit for any skill level.
Restaurants are of plenty in this area, one famous one is Red’s Eats! The media has most definitely put this one on the map, dubbing it the home of the best Maine lobster roll ! You must also visit Sweetz, the largest candy store in New England !
Wiscasset is just around the corner from Bath, Brunswick, Freeport, Harpswell, Phippsburg, (home of the most beautiful beach in Maine, Popham Beach), and Boothbay, where each town also offers many ocean views, hiking trails, beaches, and fun places to explore !

Wonderful house and location on Sheepscot/Back River
The house was perfect, with AC, very comfortable furniture and full furnishings, a lovely open floor plan, a great yard, and wonderful views. We couldn’t have asked for more, and Sheri was super responsive. We, and our dogs, had a great time, and we’d stay here again.
This home was private, peaceful and comfortable. We so enjoyed having meals and relaxing on the wide open deck watching the Ospreys, seals and lobster boats come and go on the river. We loved how close we were to RT 1, allowing us to easily visit beaches, restaurants, museums, and lighthouses. Sheri, the hostess, was quick to respond to any questions we had. Thank you for a memorable vacation. We will return!

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
Directly next to busy Bridge, could get even less private if adjacent home w/right of way to driveway used thier dock. Dated home overall, not worth 440/nt for a 2BR. Good Property Mgmt, just not enough value and if privacy decreased tenants would likely be upset.
The place was clean, comfortable, and private. It contained everything we could have needed! Lots of helpful area information. Fun to watch the River and the local wildlife!
