Had a fab stay this weekend been up for the speedway. Lovely lady on reception couldn’t do enough for us she was an absolute jem. Food was great on the evening. And a top breakfast in morning.will definitely be back. Many thanks Wayne Carter Halifax.

Good basic hotel
I was happy with my one night. Room was fine, bed really comfortable, and a hearty buffet breakfast. Hotel popular with workers, which is not surprising given very reasonable price. Just a short walk from the train station, which was great as I arrived well into the evening. I would stay here again if coming to the town for work. Hotel had a lovely bar with sports on the TV.
I stayed here one night for business, the WiFi was great as were the staff. The bed was uncomfortable and I could feel every single spring I lay on, noise from the bar downstairs kept me awake until the bar closed. Breakfast was lovely. No parking nearby. Had to dump my car and hope for the best.
Excellent service, very friendly staff, good value for money. Great location near the tourist attractions and outdoor activities. The only issue is hotel car park. You can park for free during night and all day Sunday, but weekdays need to leave by 9am.

Friendly hotel in a good location.
Stayed for the night as we were walking the following day. Hotel is in a good location, near a Tesco Supermarket and not far from the centre. Rooms are quite old, but clean and staff friendly. Bed was ok, mattress could do with an upgrade though! We couldnt make breakfast as we were leaving early but staff made us a take away bag with a sandwich. Would stay again.
Hotel condition was good and easy to access city centre. Heating was not working at all, and there was no oven services, and customer services was terrible.

OK but don't expect hotel parking
Decent enough place for the price though as other reviews point out, pretty dated. My only real complaint is the claim of "free parking" onsite - the hotel offers no parking. There is council operated on street parking which you have to vacate by 9am; or a public car park several streets away. The listing on hotels.com is wrong in claiming they offer free parking as part of the amenities as this is just plain untrue.

Night stay for 2 rooms.
Couldn’t fault the service from staff. Very friendly & polite. Hotel room was clean. Room was on 3rd floor in the attic.. But a bit undated. Bathroom ceiling wasn’t the best. Hadn’t been put back properly
Husband got in the shower to find it didn’t have power. So I rang reception from my mobile. They sent a member of staff straight away. There was a trip switch on corridor that had been knocked. Problem resolved. Booked the room next door too last minute for son. Wife & 2 year old son. They woke up during the night to a gushing noise. The paper was coming away. Think the roof was leaking in.
Food at breakfast was nice. Lovely staff. Just think the property needs a bit of updating & repairs done
Especially when you have a brand new travel lodge down the road for the same price.
Although some of the décor may look a little dated, the room was very big and spacious, the beds and pillows were very clean and comfortable too. We were in a corner room with 2 windows, it felt very light and airy. The hotel is also away from any busy traffic so there was no road noise, and everyone slept well.
All the staff we encountered were exceptionally pleasant and more than happy to help with any request.
At breakfast everything was laid out buffet style to help yourself. There was everything we could have wanted for breakfast, cereals, continental and cooked. They only had scrambled egg on the buffet, but this was pointed out by staff who also offered to cook alternatives if we wished.
The hotel doesn't have its own car park, the road outside had parking restrictions for 1hr 8:30-6:30 Mon-Sat. The hotel gave us a disk for 1 hour parking and directed us to a place nearby we could park for free if we needed longer. We were out most of the day, and even when returning late at night never found difficulty parking close to the hotel.
Our room seemed to be out of Wifi range, but signal works perfectly well in the bar and dining areas.
Very pleasant stay, would happily stay again.
We stopped at the hotel as an overnight stay when travelling from Isle of Skye to Hertfordshire. I called en-route as I was worried about arriving late, and the manager was lovely and calming. We arrived and had a very warm welcome. The room was clean and tidy and had everything we needed. The dinner menu was fabulous, and meant we didn't need to leave the hotel which is just what weary travellers needed.

Central Hotel with motorbike parking
One night stay and they let me put my motorbike in their yard overnight.
The bed was fine, the bath was beat up and broken. No soap in the bathroom to simply just wash your hands with. My main issue was the parking. From 0830 in the morning you get an hour before you risk getting a ticket from whoever patrols checking residency permits on dashboards. So after a 6 hour drive from London I got no rest next morning

Reasonable price and great breakfast. Room was quite basic but comfy bed. Main complaint was a mouldy smell on entering the room.
Luckily it was only one night stay on our way to Scotland. The top floor room was so overheated that we literally couldn't breathe. Eventually had to cover beds with wet towels to try and fall asleep. The carpet floor in the room was so greasy and sticky so that we kept our shoes on. The ground floor pub with pretty much suspicious individuals standing around all the time made me think that no valuables to be left in the car overnight. And the lady at the reception with a cocktail in her hand was fun to see. Never again.
