We finally figured it out (email comes exactly at 3pm and you check in a few more times on app then get a door unlock on app). Room was hot. No A/C and no fan

Very spartan hotel room, a couple of towels and a couple of paper cups, but the room was clean, breakfast was quite good, and despite being right by the railroad tracks, the room was quiet enough overnight. Anyway, it's a basic, but clean, hotel, and worked fine for me in Bochum for a week of meetings and not spending much time in the room.
