Headed for the bar, where I asked about the advertised limited edition XPA but the barman said “I haven’t got a clue, they just stick a card up without telling us.” So, overall first impressions weren’t great. "Lovely 1 night stay in a very lovely large superior sea view room. (Room 9) Lovely huge sleigh bed, cute little balcony and large bathroom. Myself and my partner had a complimentary glass of wine for my birthday. Thanks! I’m coeliac/ gluten intolerant but breakfast was no issue at all, super helpful."

"Good hotel within 15 min walk to Cathedral. The area of Wincheap was very run down without great disabled access (ie lack of dropped curbs). Also hotel doesn’t have a lift. Nice pool but a shame the water temp was so low! Room was great and very clean."

"I was very impressed with the room, it was spacious, clean and modern. The location was perfect, the pub downstairs had a great vibe, and the breakfast was 5/5. The only small thing I would say is it’s quite noisy outside, which you would expect from that location as it’s so central. Thank you for a great stay, I’ll definitely visit again."

"Cosy room in old building. In the listing it did say the room was small. Be aware that the stairs are steep and some quirks in the room lighting and shower controls. Very pleasant staff and good continental style breakfast. We had a pleasant stay and it was good value for money"
