Kids were a bit frightened by the insects both inside and out, but it’s like we told them, what do you expect when you are staying in the middle of the jungle/rainforest!! The space in the villa and the location were amazing. Only thing I wish was that the pool was cleaner. But not sure that anything could be done about that given the surroundings. Bumped it down to 4 stars only because A/C went out in one of the 3 bedrooms on the first day and was never fixed...

"Great hotel to stay at in La Fortuna. A beautiful view of the Volcano from the back patio. It’s a smaller hotel, with a few hot springs that we never spent any time in. This was a short trip. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Their breakfast was very tasty and they had ok iced lattes (they were just a bit watery). The dinner menu wasn’t super impressive, but most of the dinner menus we saw in Costa Rica are not. "

"Loved that the hotel is surrounded by a rainforest setting. We got to hear frogs, birds and crickets and love the peacefulness of nature. Breakfast was great with ala carte omelette bar. Room was clean and comfy. There was even an umbrella in the room for guest. I would recommend this hotel."

"Hotel Secreto was an amazing place to stay. The staff were super helpful and friendly. The location was spot on for being able to wander the town centre by foot as everything was easily walkable. The room was clean and comfortable. Would certainly make it our first choice if we are lucky enough to revisit La Fortuna in the future"

And the restaurant food was to die for!! Best filet mignon I've ever had - not kidding! Mr. Howard at the restaurant was also wonderful, as well as the waiters, including Enrique. What a lovely experience. We'll definitely be staying there when we visit CR again without a doubt!!"

On a clear day you can see the sun rise over the volcano from your balcony and the view extends to the left over all of Lake Arenal. Stunning.
