"We wanted an overnight stop halfway from Almeria to Santander without going into Madrid itself. The hotel was ideally situated just off the A2 and parking was available right outside the hotel. The restaurant attached to the hotel provided a late snack and drink when we arrived and a good value breakfast the next morning (4 Euros for a breakfast which included bacon and eggs!). I do not recommend the rooms that say "Portillo" because those are actually a different building, about a 9 minute walk away from the main one --> not fun with suitcases.
