Learn more about Helenvale

Check out Black Mountain National Park and Archer Point Conservation Park—just a couple of the sights around Helenvale.

The Lion’s Den Hotel is the stop for a well-earned beer after completing the Bloomfield Track, but even worth a drive out from Cooktown.
The pub opened in 1875 and stayed in the same family for nearly 90 years. It’s covered in hand-written messages, which is a tradition going back decades when the workers at the nearby mines would give their wages to the hotel and then keep track of how much they’d spent on the walls of the bar.
The interior is adorned with memorabilia and there’s a small museum too. Definitely worth a look.
