"The hotel is lovely! A bit dated but very well maintained. The included buffet dinner and breakfast were amazing with many choices of Japanese and Western food! Lovely rooftop onsen plus ground floor onsen. The area around the hotel is a quiet with many ships and restaurants closed but that allowed us to enjoy the hotel facilities."

"We had a wonderful 6 night stay. The staff are amazing and the food is incredible. The room was perfect size for a week or longer stay. Great couch and tv, with usb compatibility. If the bed and pillow were a little softer I would say it’s perfect. It was hard to leave."

" Lovely stay at Deer Valley, staff were great, very friendly. Really liked that meals were served at your table - we had stayed at a few other places recently that were all buffet style. The food was very very nice, and the italian dinner focus was a nice change from several weeks of japanese food. Breakfast was a large american plate, which also included a tasty curry soup (love that about hokkaido). "We just spent five weeks in Japan and are still talking about the food we ate here. It is nothing short of spectacular. We paid quadruple at other ryokans and this one had the best food, best location and the best onsens. It’s an older place with older, big onsens and for us that was the charm of it. The rooms are very clean, the beds are comfortable. The staff was incredibly kind. We went skiing one day and snowshoeing the next and ended up seeing a red fox each day. Really can’t recommend this...

"Very helpful staff, room basic but as expected for price. Onsen above average with nice outdoor pool. The most impressive thing was that with only a couple of hours notice they produced a vegetarian version of the evening meal for one of us - food was fabulous. Very pleased we stayed."
