"Cool"

"Hotel was beautifully decorated and rooms were spacious- especially having spent previous nights in smaller rooms elsewhere. The hotel is a bit further from train stations but hotel has a shuttle available every hour that made it very easy to go back and forth. Would def stay again."

"We were recommended this hotel by some old friends who stayed here last year. Admittedly we had a lovely corner suite which helped enormously but loved the hotel. Spotlessly clean and lovely room. Great staff. The only VERY MINOR gripes were the bar shut earlier than expected so just as we got back from dinner, and were unable to get a 'night cap' before bed. The second even more minor was issue could be that it was very obviously a tourist hotel - everyone was Western with copious amounts of...

"Overall it was ok. Was hoping for better hospitality and with more amenities."

"Words can’t explain how beautiful this hotel is and in the perfect location! The hotel is absolutely amazing and the views are unmatched. I’ve stayed at many great hotels but nothing compares to this one! Breakfast is fantastic and staff is so incredibly kind! Worth staying here when you come to Kyoto!!! Amazing!!!"

"Nice to be able to lay on the tatami mat floor and emulate the weeb life. Laundry existed in the basement for 100 yen coins. Family Mart direct below and connected to the building for easy access to groceries. Quiet and low traffic."

"The hotel go above and beyond call duty to provide for their guests. Anything we would want, down to nail clippers was provided! A memorable stay, for sure. Apart from that, comfortable beds etc"

"This was an excellent hotel overall. What I liked • Friendly, helpful staff. • Very clean, modern-looking rooms and facilities. • Spacious, comfortable, well-designed rooms, with a separate toilet, a large countertop and sink, and a roomy sofa. • A reasonably well-equipped fitness room with cardio machines, a full set of dumbbells and a cable machine. • An elegant, well-maintained public bath. • An excellent buffet breakfast, with plenty of healthy options, including fruit, vegetables and...

"Sowaka was amazing. Great location, beautiful hotel, incredible food, perfect staff! Do take the 5:45 am tour to Kiyomizu-dera with the incredibly knowledgeable hotel manager. A wonderful and unique experience without all the tourists around."

"Beautiful and cozy place. The staff were all so kind. Nearby, there are restaurants and the Yasaka Shrine. Me and my partner had a wonderful experience staying here for our Honeymoon! Thank you all again!"

"It was a pleasure staying in a quieter area of Kyoto next to the river. It’s an all-rounded hotel whereby the room, service, and breakfast is spotless. One tip for those who are considering staying at this accommodation, you can easily take 206 bus to Kyoto Station."

"So glad I found this place. Absolutely perfect location. Everything so accessible. Extremely comfortable with everything I needed. They even include hair straighteners! Super clean and technology enabled with numeric keypad so no key card to worry about. I had room on 4th floor with river view. Room is very well equipped and spacious with desk, lounge area etc. Very comfortable beds and room. Pillows a little hard for my personal taste and minimal space around beds but this didn’t detract from...

"Impeccable service. Excellent Japanese breakfast although you have a choice of an English breakfast if you prefer that. Someone is always there to greet you and help you if you need directions or a taxi or anything else. The property is beautifully maintained. It is an older, beautiful building and very authentic. The garden outside our room was peaceful and beautiful. I enjoyed the public bath as well as our own wooden bathtub and shower. Tea was served to us every afternoon when we returned...

"The staff here is outstanding! The room was cozy and romantic and the location was perfect!"
