"We stayed in a room at the back of the hotel on the 8th floor. It was very quiet - nice large room. Incredibly stylish decor. Although there are no wardrobes or drawers for storage, the concrete shelving and racks are a neat way to stylishly store everything. Good breakfasts. The staff noticed that it was my partner’s birthday - without any prodding from me, they arranged for a bottle of sparkling wine, chocolate cake and a nice card - very thoughtful and typical of their excellent service. The hotel is in a very good location near the ribeira waterfront. Overall and excellent stay. "

"It was perfect as it always is - honestly the only downside was a guy called Carlos who works in the restaurant who made me put a tip and then when I gave him a decent tip he started negotiating for a higher tip - tipping is not standard in Portugal or anywhere in Europe and I even gave him a good review on another website after he begged me to. It was a shame then for him to insist I tipped him (fine) and then start bartering with me to give him a higher tip like I’m in a bazaar in Istanbul (not fine). "

"This hotel is perfectly situated in Porto’s historic centre & an ideal base, close to all of the major attractions. The hotel decor is modern, with a nod to the past, and kept spotlessly clean and well maintained. My room was spacious and well equipped, with a lovely buffet breakfast provided in the morning. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would certainly be very happy to return."
