"We stayed in the New England Suite and overall enjoyed our stay. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and one staff member even carried a suitcase to our second-floor room. The suite was clean and comfortable, with two rooms, a cozy queen bed and twin bed, good A/C, a private balcony with rocking chairs, and a charming claw-foot tub (although the high step could be difficult for some guests).
Our biggest disappointment was the optional $18 per person breakfast. Both mornings were almost identical: fruit or yogurt with fruit, two small sausage links, an egg dish with peppers, spicy/salty frozen potatoes, and the same dry shoofly cake. The menu simply wasn't appealing to us, and even if it had been, we still don't feel it was worth $18 per person. The portions were small, the presentation was plain, and we were surprised that a bed and breakfast served nearly the exact same meal two days in a row. Since breakfast had to be reserved in advance, we couldn't cancel after the first morning. Another couple dining with us felt the same.
We also tried the hot tub. The staff member explained that the water had become too hot because of the summer weather and did her best to cool it down and skim out the bugs. However, it didn't appear to be well maintained. The water chemistry seemed off, and the cover could only be opened halfway, making it awkward to use.
The room, staff, and location were excellent, but the breakfast was a major letdown and not worth the additional cost."
