"Hotel Masuda was a very nice hotel. Staff were friendly, our room was spotless and comfortable. The dinning options were really good. The dinner we had on the first night was delicious. The location was easy to find and only a short walk to the station. I would definitely recommend a stay at this hotel. "

"My family rented both units and loved the rakuten housing. It was really clean and very comfortable and had everything you could ask for. The bath tub is amazing because it heats and maintains the temperature. All houses should have them. Checkin takes a little long since you have to do it virtually through an iPad but other than that everything was great and would recommend to anyone staying in Hagi"

"Clean, spacious, with everything provided, including detailed instructions for appliances. Far better than a standard short-stay rental. We were in Hagi on the first hot day of the year, and the AC was fast, effective and a lifesaver - in both living and sleeping areas. The location was ideal - walking distance to the core sights and a 5-minute walk to the central welcoming center and an electric bike rental, which was key on a hot day for zipping around the atmospheric streets. "A lovely Japanese inn with incredible food, comfortable bedding and wonderful hospitality. We spent two of our week long Yamaguchi prefecture trip at Hagi no Yado Tomoe and we were very happy with our choice.
Evening meals presented in our room were exceptional. It was a traditional Japanese ryokan meal but with some western style interpretations. We loved our sashimi course the first night but also very impressed by the carpaccio served instead the next night. Also an apple gratin was my husband’s favorite dish of our entire trip and we had some excellent meals throughout.
I highly recommend this hotel for your next stay in Hagi. It’s easy access by car for a day trip to Tsuwano and an easy location for all the interesting places in Hagi.

"The property was located in the heart of the town. There were lots of grocery and dining options within walking distance. The beach was a short drive away too. We were able to drive to many scenic places like Akiyoshido Cave and the quasi national park from there.
The house was spacious and very clean. The neighborhood was quiet other than during the elementary school’s break time when little children could be heard playing. The house was also well stocked, though I wish there could’ve been soup/ rice bowls, a kitchen scissors and a rice cooker. I was also slightly confused by the check in procedure but thankfully the Rakuten team responded soon enough to help us with it. Overall, it was a very pleasant 1 week stay and we enjoyed the place very much. "

The location was ideal - walking distance to the core sights and a 5-minute walk to the central welcoming center and an electric bike rental, which was key on a hot day for zipping around the atmospheric streets. The laundry was also great - easy to use, detergent provided, and a huge drying rack plus perhaps 2 dozen hangars. We were able to quickly do a week’s worth of laundry and get out to see sights while it dried. And dedicated parking. And it is quiet and private, with a patio and tatami mat room to relax in. It was all modern and lovely - cannot recommend highly enough."
"Staff were very kind. The Kaiseki dinner was superb.
Although we did not use the public bath, the private bath reserved was great and our bodies felt less sore after a long dip. "
"This hotel is a bit strange. It's not a typical country inn or ryokan (you register using a QR code sent by email). I get a Western style bed on carpeted floor rather than futon on tatami.
But nobody understands English. They have a restaurant, but couldn't understand that I wanted supper or explain why I couldn't have the supper they were serving to other guests. (I had to look for another place to eat.)
For breakfast, I went into one serving room with tables and chairs neatly set out, and the staff waved frantically for me to go away. Finally one of them took me across the hall to where breakfast was set out and waiting for me. They seemed to think I was slightly deranged to mistake one dining room for another.
The server politely brought me a cup of tea, but when I asked for coffee, she indicated that I had to go to the front desk of the hotel to get it, which I did. It didn't seem to occur to her that getting coffee for guests might be part of her job."
"Other than the room is small. It’s quite a pleasant stay. Enjoyed the spa area. And there’s a Macdonald right next to the hotel, in case you are craving for a burger. "
