"Our stay was wonderful. The room was clean and spacious. The sister hotel, Hotel Romantik Santis, was also excellent. The sauna is located offsite (not at Hecht) but was easy to reserve. Also, I highly recommend the restaurant at Santis. The food, wine menu, and service were outstanding."
"Loved walking around and shopping in charming, old Swiss Appenzell as well as the variety of restaurants. Our room was comfortable and the owner and employees’ attention to details made it special, like a terrarium in the bathroom, good breakfast included, limited parking in their lot, and a large selection of tv channels. "The house is very nice, with everything as advertised. There is plenty of space, and the beds and furniture are comfortable. In the basement are a washer, dryer, and drying racks.The location is great, on a quiet street just a couple blocks from the center of the town of Appenzell. It's also very close to the train station - there are some sidewalks that go in between houses that make it a very direct walk, without having to follow the main roads.One caveat. The Appenzellers have a reputation for historically being on the short side, and the construction of this older house reflects that. If you have somebody who is 6' or taller, they might have challenges bumping their head. In particular, be careful with the basement - I am only 5' 9" but hit my head pretty hard coming up from the basement.The property manager communicates well, no issues.Overall, a great property, and we would definitely stay here again."
"Excellent, very helpful staff. A super room (we were upgraded) with sinks in the large bedroom and the WC. Up-to-date, but with beautiful wood joinery. Fine breakfast, with a gluten-free option. Elevator and library and a good location a few hundred yards from the main square. No restaurant, but there are many others nearby, including at their partner Hotel Romantic Santis on the main square. Has a same-day laundry service. Only drawback is lack of parking, but you can stop in front to load and unload, then park in the public parking."
