Dry-stone walls are an integral feature of the Yorkshire Dales. Whilst you will often see them being repaired it is more unusual to see a new one being built.
Here at Appletreewick I was fortunate to see a craftsman building this wall. I could only admire his skill. Whilst he finished the wall with a mortared coping, the wall itself is "dry".

"We didn’t stay because there were 20 stone steps up to the apartment with open railings at the side and landing which we felt was unsafe for us and our dog. Great hotel and dog friendly

"Lovely hotel and great service. We were down for 2 nights with our dog. Pet friendly hotel, lovely grounds for us and the dog. Very friendly service and location. Had to pay on site parking which was not ideal but is pretty standard I guess in that area."
