"We ended our safari in a very high note because we stayed here before we flew from kilimanjaro airport (45mins away). When our tanzania guide drove us to this hotel at the end of our tour (entry/exit hotels were not included in our package) he beamed and sang high praises for this establishment and said we will no doubt enjoy our stay. And he was right. I primarily chose this hotel cause it is airconditioned, decor is modern and it is very used to tourists/foreigners so i had no doubt meals and stay itself will be safe and good. But we walked the entire hotel grounds (had time and inclination) and found they also had a beautiful flower garden, a giant chess board, a 3 hectare coffee farm, a swinging bridge, an in house gift shop (with high quality items), multiple restaurant choices for meals and superb views even from just the 3rd floor where you can see Mt. Meru on a clear day. All the staff too were super nice and it makes me want to go back to arusha just to stay here again."
"Our flight arrived in the evening and this hotel was a very convenient place to stay until we started our safari the next morning! The free airport transfer was a plus. The staff was very friendly and the room comfortable."
"Perfect place to stay after arrival and before and after Safari. Grounds are beautiful, spa services superior (get a massage!), service exceptional, breakfast plentiful and tasty. Rooms are spacious and clean."
"Was pleasantly surprised. Had decided to stay there because it was close to the Kilimanjaro airport and after 17 hrs of traveling to get there and getting in late, was very happy that shuttle drive was on time and Customer service excellent."
Ilboru Safari Lodge - The Platinum Route Company Limited
10/10 Excellent
"A Charming Lodge with Wonderful Hospitality and a Personal Touch!
I spent several days at Ilboru Safari Lodge at the beginning of my Tanzanian adventure, and it was a lovely introduction to the country.
The lodge has a cozy, quaint atmosphere, with beautiful gardens and a peaceful pool area. I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoons relaxing by the pool, reading, writing and enjoying a glass of wine. It was the perfect place to unwind after a long journey and ease into the rhythm of Tanzania.
One of the things I particularly enjoyed was the friendly, relaxed atmosphere and the opportunity to meet interesting people. Evenings spent watching the sunset, sharing conversations over dinner and chatting around the fire were some of my favourite moments.
A special mention to Alex, who took the time to sit and chat with me about Tanzania, its people and my interest in exploring beyond the usual tourist experiences. He was incredibly generous with his local knowledge and helped connect me with opportunities to learn more about the local community. Those conversations and connections added a whole other dimension to my time in Arusha.
Ilboru isn't about flashy luxury. Its charm lies in its character, peaceful surroundings and genuine hospitality. It was a wonderful home base for the first part of my adventure.
Asante sana to Alex and the Ilboru team for making my introduction to Tanzania so memorable!"
