The Neighborhood:
Located in Gazi, the cultural heart of Athens. This is the heart of Athens nightlife, exhibitions, cultural events and festivals. Gazi is located in the Athens historical district, just 13 minutes by foot from the gates of the Acropolis. The Penthouse is located just 150 meters from the Kerameikos metro station. It is a blue line station, the best connected line in Athens, and has a direct line to the Airport and Piraeus port.

Gazi is loaded with cafes, bars, nightlife and concerts. During the day the unit is very quiet and ideal for remote work. A digital nomad's paradise, equipped with high-speed wifi, premium amenities, and smart home features. Nightlife erupts in Gazi. It's no wonder Gazi is known as the Mykonos of Athens. Guests can dance all night (and morning) with plenty of venues to choose from for all tastes.

Getting around from the Penthouse is effortless. Located just 200m from the Kerameikos metro stations, guests can easily access the best connected metro line in Athens (the Blue line). For guests that prefer to rent a car, the apartment has a private parking garage dedicated to guests. Furthermore, calling a cab is very easy in Athens.

The neighborhood is Athen's nightclub hub and it can get loud, even into the early hours of the morning. All properties in this area, and many more throughout Athens, struggle with neighborhood noise levels. Athens is a loud city and there is hardly any enforcement of noise bylaws by the city or police. Paradoxically, this energy is one of the many reasons to stay in the area.

We have done everything possible to reduce noise levels in the apartment (In 2024 we installed top of the line sound resistant triple glazed windows, we provide disposable earplugs, the apartment has doors separating all bedrooms/bathrooms which helps insulate sound). With the significant cost associated with these windows, there are hardly any (probably none) other listings in the area that offer such sound resistant windows in the bedrooms. Relatively speaking, you will be staying at one of the quietest properties in the area.

Guests should know that club noise has been an issue for some past guests. It's the only reason for any of our imperfect reviews. The area has lots of great experiences to offer and the location is incredible, but it comes with a compromise of noisy nights around the weekends.

Please take this into consideration prior to your booking. Refunds due to noise issues will not be offered since the potential noise issues are being proactively, honestly and transparently disclosed in this listing description.

Wonderful stay and beautiful property

We had a wonderful stay. The property is just as described. We walked to the Parthenon and enjoyed the great local food. We’re a family of 5 and the home was well stocked with everything we needed for our stay. The hot tub overlooking the Parthenon each evening was a highlight. The hosts were excellent communicators and gave several valuable recommendations. Highly recommend!

Great Location & Great Host

I came to Athens with my two teenaged children to see the sites. Iris Penthouse is located close to everything. The Metro stop was a 3 min walk away and all the sites were 2 stops at most. The condo is amazing and has great views. Be prepared for noise on weekend nights but otherwise amazing. Jeff was an amazing host - he kept in touch and even helped us get a taxi from the airport. We would 100% stay here again. Top notch.

Fantastic Stay at Gazi Penthouse

We had an awesome time at Gazi Penthouse! The property is beautiful, very clean, and very well appointed. We enjoyed using the jacuzzi on the wrap-around balcony with the amazing views of the Acropolis. The penthouse is in a great location - we were able to walk to several restaurants and a grocery store. The hosts, Jeff and Katerina were so thoughtful and easy to work with. They helped us arrange transportation and gave us great recommendations. The entire process of booking / checking-in/out was very easy and went smoothly. We highly recommend this amazing property!

Great location and amazing managers

My wife and I stayed at this residence a week before boarding a cruise. The check in process was incredibly easy. The location was great for us to do all the sightseeing in Athens. The location of the unit is great with many restaurants and bars in the area while also being within walking distance of all of the tourist attractions. However, the best part about our stay was the communication with the management. We had no issues, but the text communication with the management was very convenient. We could tell the owners of this unit genuinely care about the quality of their unit.

Read the description carefully: This place is amazing and the hosts are truly wonderful people, but the noise really is a major problem on weekends. First the great: The apartment is spacious and clean, the views on Acropolis breathtaking, the balcony and Jacuzzi a joy, the beds comfortable, the location central, and everything feels luxurious. The hosts are some of the kindest and most caring people you'll ever deal with. However, from Friday through Monday morning it's like living in the middle of a club: Despite all the great lengths the hosts went through to reduce the noise, there will be very loud music until 6am on Saturday and until about 4am on Friday and Sunday nights. Unless you can use noise-canceling earphones listening to soothing sounds all through the night, it may be very difficult to get any sleep at all. This is especially a problem for children. I've lived in party districts in Berlin, this is far beyond what I expected. Just be aware of that and know what to expect. You might be excited by all this or absolutely okay with it, and also on weeknights and during the days it's really quiet inside the apartment. Other than this, as noted, it's a fantastic place, and due to the extreme kindness and helpfulness of the hosts, I've decided to give 5 stars nevertheless.

Great place with a couple of hiccups

So many great things about the place- several AC units in the place to customize which rooms to cool off which is great. The AC was off when we arrived so it took all night to cool off the rooms; after that, everything worked great. Hot tub was clean and worked great. Loved the patio and being able to choose which shades to open up. Loved that they left bathrobes to use for either shower or hot tub. Things to know- master shower floor had moldy soap scum which needed cleaning. Pillows were uncomfortable. Area is very safe and plenty of food options. One thing I didn’t know about the area is it’s in a nightclub district. That fact doesn’t bother me. My husband and I go out frequently. But the club parties here are rooftop and rotate buildings nearby. It looks like a fun party atmosphere but it literally sounds like a concert. And it doesn’t end until around 3am. I sleep with earplugs, (and they happened to provide some), but it can be heard inside. My only complaint is I wish it would end earlier. My 12 these old tried to sleep with earplugs. One other thing to note is the shower has a window allowing you to see the beautiful Acropolis with not much privacy. We did close the patio shade but I felt uncomfortable using it. FYI there isn’t a dishwasher either.I hate leaving any negative reviews but these are things I wish I had known in advance or perhaps owner can tend to. Owner was easy to get a hold of. Everything is electronic. Locks are too. Washer worked great.

Amazing all around

Went to Athens on a mother daughter trip and honestly could NOT have had a better experience! Room was gorgeous, clean and 100% as advertised. Getting in and out was a breeze with the app. Agree with the other reviewers that the clubs and music are there every night, but it really didn’t bother us much. Would be the only thing however if you needed quiet to sleep as the music does go on until 3am (and we were there during the weekdays).However, for us, everything else made up for it in spades. ESPECIALLY how above and beyond Jeff and Katerina were accessible before, during and after our stay! Any question we had- about tours, restaurants, getting around- they were right there ready to help.This was my first trip to Athens but it absolutely will NOT be my last and I would 100% be going back to this property!!

An excellent stay and home base to enjoy Athens

The apartment was luxurious and roomy. And everything you needed was stocked - even had bathrobes, which was great to use when going to the jacuzzi - one of the reasons I booked this place. I liked how I was in regular contact with hosts before arrival, upon arrival and during our stay and they responded quickly each time. We enjoyed being in a more residential neighborhood as you get a unique experience with local coffee/pastry shops and restaurants. Jeff and Katerina of Iris Athens Management provided a lot of information in its guest guide and they recommended to us a local restaurant (Cartone) that was one of the best casual restaurants we've ever ate at. There was a full supermarket just 6 minutes walk. A subway station is a mere 2 minute walk and very convenient as only 1 stop to Monastiraki and 2 stops to Syntagma Square and it is fun to take the subway. We are from Toronto and came for school March break - turned out to be a great time as tourist levels are very low (no jostling at Acropolis) and weather is very comfortable (just a T-shirt during the day).

Fantastic experience here

First time to Athens and came with another couple. Close to Metro station, lots of fun bars/restaurants/nightlife. Penthouse was super clean and comfortable. Communication with host was amazing and ultra responsive. Always looked forward to coming back to the place after long days of being a tourist :). We all agreed that we would stay here again in the future.

You will not be disappointed. It’s is exactly as promised, the view is amazing. The hot tub is perfect after a long day is sight seeing. It was a fabulous stay.

Great location, prompt communication, very clean

We had a great stay in Jeff and Katerina's apartment. It is in a fantastic location - we were able to walk to everything we wanted to go to in the city, and to nearby cool local restaurants and bars. The place itself is sparkling clean, and we appreciated the small touches like coffee being provided. The Acropolis is visible from the living room and balcony, which makes the place very special. Jeff and Katerina had excellent communication before and during the stay, which was greatly appreciated. Check in was a breeze. The only negative is we stayed over the weekend when the clubs in the neighborhood play very loud music until 5AM. Jeff and Katerina provided ear plugs, but this still did little to keep the noise down. Knowing that, we still would have stayed given the location, but it may be a challenge for those that are light sleepers.

Wonderful stay at the Penthouse!

Steps from the Metro. Easy journey on the Metro from the airport - single line, no changes. Penthouse is close to restaurants. Walking distance to Ermou street and central Athens. The apartment was clean and modern. The decor is to the highest standards. The Acropolis is visible from the main sitting room and the master bedroom. Wonderful to wake up to. I would stay at the penthouse again!
