Best Western Motherwell Centre Moorings Hotel

8/10 Good

"Good room and nice to see security measures including a double lock and chain (considering issues with other chains of late). Comfortable bed and what looks like a fairly recently refurbished bathroom, although oddly no toilet roll holder. The room was a bit difficult to control on temperature the storage heater was either on or off at the wall but never appeared to be on whatever you did. The towel rail put out some heat though. There is a bit of road noise if you're at the front which starts pretty early if you're a light sleeper. WiFi is ok if you're just doing basic work tasks but struggled a bit on Teams calls which wasn't ideal. Breakfast was pleasant and cooked to order but the wait is very long. Despite ordering ahead of time, it took over 10 minutes the first morning and over 15 the second. That's a bit too long to be waiting for breakfast if the stay is for work. That said, the haggis was a nice touch, egg and mushrooms were nice but some other elements felt like they'd been kept warm despite the wait, for example, the bacon was a bit hard. No gym but overall for the price still very good value and free (and plentiful) parking is very welcome. Perhaps not so great though if you're a business traveller but that seems to be the majority of their business. But if they work on some of the weaker elements, they'd be very able to charge more. Very pleasant and efficient staff on reception on both check in and check out."
