"We stayed as a family of four with two young children at the end of summer. The property is beautiful and the water very shallow quite a ways out so it was perfect for our 1.5 and 2.5 year olds. They had a blast playing in the water, riding around in the kayak and playing with some beach toys provided. The cottage got both very hot and cold while we were there with the fluctuating temps that week. The fans in every room work wonders and there is heating if needed. Adequate and comfortable linens provided. Some toiletries if needed. Really nice to have a washer and dryer on site if you need to wash and dry towels or clothing you brought up. All the comforts of home including a dishwasher, coffee machine etc. TVs also in every room which was convenient. As others have mentioned, it seemed as though there were not a lot of mosquitoes but the ones that got us were the itchiest we have ever experienced. Property was secluded / private enough though you could see some neighbouring cottages/guests a ways away. Hosts were prompt with responses to any correspondence. I think the biggest take away was that we had a very comfortable stay as a family of four with small children."

"Couldn’t ask for a better place for a family getaway that is pet friendly. Modern amenities throughout made for a stress free experience. Plenty of activities to keep everyone happy and space so everyone could spread out. Close to a variety of shops makes it easy to pick up food and anything we needed."

"Fabulous. We attended a wedding in rockingham, and this was the perfect location. Everything in this cottage deserves an A+. The only surprise was we had to bring our own bed sheets. Did not see it in the description. Thanks for sharing your place. "

"The trailer was older but fully functional. Heat and fans for temperature control. There was lots of space to park and set up tents, the kitchen sink and stove worked well and the bbq was very helpful. The space was very nice with trails, canoeing, and the full camping experience. Great private quiet spot in the valley! Thanks Josh and family! "

"I needed a quiet place to get some work done and this place was perfect. Even though it's close to the highway, there are trees to block its view so it was easy for me to ignore. I had my own private area with a fire pit and a BBQ to grill up some steaks. Inside, it felt so cozy with a full kitchen, living room area and a separate room for the bedroom. As soon as I stepped through the door, I took a deep breath and smiled.... And the bed was so comfortable that I ended up sleeping a little longer than I wanted but that was definitely OK with me. I obviously needed it. There was also lots of space out back for walks. I noticed various sporting areas and the complementary paddle boats and kayaks. I wasn't able to take advantage of this option but I may take another trip out that way so I can explore the lake. I have to say that I was totally impressed with the fact that they are so eco friendly. They even have solar panels set up. A storm hit the area, the power went out for 2 seconds or less and that was the end of it. No more power issues at all. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Thank you. :)"

"The property was nicely secluded, with multiple trails leading up to the top of the escarpment with a lovely view of Golden Lake. The cabin itself was clean and cozy, and the AC was perfect for sleeping as we went in a 35° July heatwave. Great little fire pit with affordable firewood supplied by the hosts. Be mindful of leaving any dry food in the screened-in kitchenette if going out for more than an hour -- the local chipmunks are hungry and know what they're looking for. Only minor complaint was the outdoor shower. Was expecting a wall-mounted, electrically-pumped shower connected to rain barrels (and the welcome binder in the cabin had instructions for such), but instead there was a pump sprayer with a garden hose attachment -- worked well for cleaning up, but my girlfriend wasn't thrilled. All in all, a great spot in the Bonnechere Valley if you're looking for something nicer than tent camping but are still willing to give up the amenities of the city. Even better if you bring your own kayak or paddleboard to hit up the Bonnechere River."
