.I arrived at Upachaya in a state of mental and physical exhaustion. This is a fabulous place to unwind and de-stress. I curled up on the porch for two weeks and spent most afternoons simply reading and/or writing. I enjoyed falling asleep listening to the tree frogs and the men fishing in the bay. The Reef House is in a quiet part of the island. We went for relaxation and diving. The first night we snorkeled at night in the ocean pool and saw octapus, shrimp, flounder, small eels, and huge urchins.
My older son wanted to fish, so they arranged a day of fishing and visiting a shallow area where nurse sharks and rays hang out, so we got to snorkel with them. We caught a bunch of tuna and they cooked it up for us for dinner. We went during the end of August, which is the slow time. ...

This is an old school cabin that was very comfortable. The cabin had seen better days (flooring) but great hot water, microwave, and a refrigerator. We were in cabin 3 and our covered porch had a great view of the water and the main intersection of West End. Our maid was top notch and took great care of us. Satellite tv gave us both the AFC and NFC Championship games. There is an Argentina restaurant around the corner that had the best grilled skirt steak -we went back three times! A wonderful...

Our family stay December 16 through December 19. We stayed one night in La Casita and two nights and Tucano. Both rooms were nice but we love Tucano because we had the Riverview.
We hiked Pico Bonito trail with Richards German shepherds, and just chilled by the pool and the river for the rest of this stay.
The food and drinks were delicious!
It is definitely A relaxing, beautiful spot!
