"Following three failed attempts to check in on arrival due to an unmanned desk, the rest of the stay was excellent, mostly down to the wonderful Sunny whom ensured our stay was comfortable and with plenty of supplies due to the weather conditions. The only downside was a faulty light in our room which constantly flashed on and off during the night which disturbed our sleep a little. We reported it twice, hoping for repair or a change of room but it was a weekend so no maintenance was available...

"What’s lovely place to stay. Large and comfortable room, excellent facilities and a beautiful ambiance. The breakfast was first class and we received a lovely recommendation for a light evening meal nearby. It is very walkable into the centre of York, but at one point we chose to take the bus and that too is both convenient and easy. We would not hesitate to recommend Ascot House and will make it our first choice on any subsequent visit to York. "

"Location on the edge of York city center was an easy walk to all attractions. Convenient for both car (large city parking lot nearby) and rail (station just across the river). We had a large room with a very spacious bathroom, all done to satisfaction."

"Easy to see why this property gets such amazing reviews! Lots of parking right outside (ensure to request a virtual parking permit in advance) - fabulously clean, room with an incredibly comfy bed (really important to both of us due to back issues). Shared bathroom no issues, spotless and no waits even tho the property was fully booked. Breakfast absolutely fantastic, people lovely, and a very short walk to the city walls thru the park. We will be back - fabulous stay - thank you!!"

"Host was very friendly and professional, accommodation is clean with everything you need. Roadside parking just around the corner, we parked up and left the car there as the city is within walking distance. Our room was on the roadside but still very quiet even with the window open, we slept very well both nights. Highly recommended and we will return."

"Guest house is lovely, arrival was smooth, car park was quite small and the driveway is very narrow not ideal if you have a large car as makes getting in and out difficult. Our double room was clean and nicely decorated, mattress was ok however the wooden bed frame was very creaky and we could also hear our neighbours bed too. The walls are quite thin and due to it being an older property floor boards creak. We were woken at 1am by guests in the room next door coming home, talking and walking...

"The location is unbeatable but amenities were sparse - like towels - and it felt like the decor was more important than the comfort factor. The bed was uncomfortable, there were no pegs to hang up your 2 towels, and there was no air flow. Just a fan. It felt like more of an AirBnb than a hotel. If you’re looking for a place where there’s someone to greet you and help you with extra needs and/or recommendations- this is not the place to be. "
