Clifton Villa Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"The owner was there to meet me as I arrived. He clearly explained where everything was & options re: housekeeping, etc.. I just wanted to sleep, visit friends and relax, so was not too bothered re: daily housekeeping, as I wasn't at the property long enough daily to make a mess. After a couple of days, the owner asked if there was anything I wanted/needed as I had not requested anything. I said "no" as the room is stocked with more than enough towels. There is a kettle & plentiful tea and coffee which you can restock from downstairs. If you want somewhere clean, quiet, with an attentive owner and comfortable beds, give this place a try. Two minutes to centre of town. Off-road parking."

Lynwood House Hotel
8/10 Good
"We really enjoyed our stay at Lynwood House and would definitely stay again. The room was clean, bright and had a lovely big comfortable bed that you sunk right into. However, in room 4 where we stayed, there was an issue with the shower. The water temperature knob was too stiff to move and we were unable to change the temperature ourselves. The water was mostly cold, with a slight lukewarm temperature for approx 5 seconds before dropping to cold again. As there were no staff, we could not raise this on the spot, and felt as we were only there for 2 nights it felt quite pointless to email waiting for a response. But it definitely has not put me off staying again as the hotel was in a fabulous location, really quiet and overall a beautiful room."

Sinclair's Bar, Lounge & Rooms
8/10 Good
"If you're looking for a quiet early night with a mug of hot chocolate then this definately isn't for you. No hot chocolate in the room and the rooms are above function rooms and bars open til late. That said, our room at the back wasn't excessively noisy, with an extractor fan outside the room and a low base sound from the downstairs disco. Once the window was closed the extractor fan wasn't heard. The disco ended around 01:30 then it was quiet. The room was clean, the bathroom was small but had a brilliant big shower. Tea and coffee making facilities available. Below the rooms is Sinclairs bar and function room. Situated on the busy Lord Street, the main shopping street in Southport with plenty of bars, cafès and restuarants. Ideal if your staying for a function in one of the nearby bars and hotels. But if you want an early night, try somewhere else."
