"This is a contactless property, so there is no way to rate the staff. The pool was out of order, but they had a pool that could be used just down the road, not that we were interested. The room was large, the beds were comfortable and the it was all clean, without smelling of cleaning solutions. It was possible to open windows for fresh air, and the road was a quite one."

"We had a wonderful stay! The hotel was very clean and well maintained, with a great location and convenient free parking. The restaurant was delicious, and we really enjoyed the pools and all the amenities. A special bonus was the complimentary boat and pedal boat rentals — such a fun way to enjoy the lake. Overall, a great experience and we would definitely stay here again!"

The Whiteface Lodge

"We stayed at Whiteface Lodge for our last family trip of the year. We hadn't been back in 13 years and by chance ended up in the suite right above our old one. The One Bedroom Superior Suite was spotless and had a true Adirondack feel. Housekeeping actually mops the suite floors during turnarounds instead of just vacuuming. The walk-out porch had a great mountain view with the leaves just starting to turn. The 2nd floor coffee bar is open from 5 AM to 5 PM, which was ideal for grabbing a cup early, sitting on the chilly porch before breakfast, or walking the grounds while waiting for everyone to wake up. The underground tunnel connects the buildings so you don't have to step out in the cold. The movie theater has a cozy basement feel with a Bose Tube setup!, fresh popcorn, family movies at 10 AM, and older PG-13 films at 9 PM. The bowling alley, arcade, and pool tables are all right together. The indoor/outdoor pool and hot tubs are heated, though stepping outside takes a second to adjust if cold. We ate at Peak 47 lounge the first night to skip the Lake Placid parking hassle; the pizza was great, and having a full kitchen made leftovers easy for lunch. KANU offers an upscale prime rib buffet, but we passed because of picky eaters (kids). Parking note: valet uses a heated garage, while the free self-parking lot fills up quickly during weddings. In town, event parking gets tight, but there is free street parking along Mirror Lake Drive if you don't mind a short walk."

"Our group of 10 adults and 4 toddlers had an overall great stay at Kevin’s VRBO on Lake Placid, but we have some suggested improvements to the property, specifically to make it more kid friendly. Kevin has been very communicative and committed to investing in these improvements, I’ll leave it to future guests to judge how effective they are. PROS:The size and location of this house are great, and there's a lot to like — a small patio out back with a cut-out fire pit area, plenty of room inside, and kayaks available for guests to use. Location is walking distance from Main Street and literally on the shores of Lake Placid. FEEDBACK:Deck above the garage — the space itself is fantastic, but it isn't safe in its current condition. The railing is falling apart and wouldn't take much force to give way. There's also no gate at the top of the stairs, so nothing stops a small child from heading down on their own. Needs a major overhaul. Kayaks — check them over before you head out. One of ours took on water and nearly sank while we were out in the bay.Kitchen stove hood — does not work, making indoor cooking options limited. Literally shook the whole house when attempting to use. No AC — plan accordingly if you're visiting in summer.Overall, a good stay and one we'd recommend for adults or families with older kids. With repairs to the deck & railing, a gate at the stairs, kitchen hood, and a check on the kayaks, this would be an easy place to recommend to anyone."
