"Beautiful property, clean, tidy excellent location in a quiet small village. Plenty of room for our family of 5 and everything you need. Would definitely book again"
"We stayed for a week in March 2025 and thought this cottage was wonderful. Tastefully furnished and very well equipped, this was a real home from home. The comprehensive welcome pack was much appreciated. We would not hesitate to stay here again or to recommend to friends and family. "
"Nice room, host responded to queries very quickly. Iron, ironing board and hairdryer were all very much appreciated as we needed to get ready for a wedding. "
"We stayed here for a couple of nights for a long weekend exploring the Yorkshire Wolds. The location is great, being close to a few larger towns like Driffield and Pocklington, but also close to some amazing walking including a stretch of the Yorkshire Wolds Way. The room was really lovely, the staff friendly, and the food and beer fantastic. We will definitely stay again when we're next out this way! "
"Loved the breakfasts—lots of choices. The hosts were lovely. The room was spotless and the bed was comfortable. It was an easy walk to restaurants, pubs and York City Center. Would stay there again in a heartbeat!

"The host was very kind and helpful. The Barbican is located just outside the wall, which is brilliant, as inside the walls is quite noisy until very late. We would definitely stay here again!

"Cosy, Clean Motel + Warm and Pleasant Motel Staff.
Such an awesome, cosy and quaint motel to stay. The breakfast made to order, warm and delicious was an unexpected treat. The waiting/counter staff were wonderful and friendly. Made our 1 night stay simply great and wish for a B&B experience a great one indeed. Room was huge and bathroom so clean. Water pressure was like a waterfall - another welcomed surprise. Thanks!!"
"Very comfortable unit in a country setting away from the congestion of York. The only negative point was that the WIFI was weak in the unit we were in. Nice, historical location. "
"Excellent location and easy access to surrounding areas by car to Hornsea, Hull and York. An excellent bus route was also observed.Amenities are in a walks reach and Burnby Hall gardens is worth a visit to see the fish with Sainsburys opposite and Market Street cafe does an excellent breakfast. The cottage enabled all of us to have space to eat, drink and sleep with ease.Unfortunately, emails were not answered and caused some issues with the sleeping arrangements (no futon in front bedroom so sleep was disturbed) and anxiety about how we gained access to the cottage. The front room wardrobe could not be used as it was full of bedding and other paraphernalia. On first inspection the cottage was beautifully presented and clean but requires a little TLC. (showers screens, bases, filters and heads needed a thorough cleaning. Socket at the side of the bed was loose, previous guests clothing in the wardrobe and a bed finial was not attached .)"

"What a fantastic stay at The Carpenters cottage. The hosts Helen and Patrick were so warm and welcoming and Patrick also has an amazing workshop you can have a look at.
We came to stay for my birthday to watch a band at the arts centre, and had such a wonderful time. Everybody was so kind and generous. The cottage was very comfortable, super clean and warm. The log burner is brilliant. Easy walk into the centre of town and lots of places to eat and drink.
Definitely will stay again of we're next up this way :)"
"Property was lovely, communication excellent. It would just take a couple of things for a 5 star ie two big towels as two people staying, additional toilet roll, kitchen to have more utensils. The listing really should mention the tv is almost impossible as the wifi signal is bad and maybe have some games or puzzles available as we were not aware the tv would just buffer constantly.. Also instructions on central heating, oven etc as they were new to us and took a bit of figuring. It was just a few minor niggles, but despite these would stay again but would know to bring extras that were needed for total comfort."
