"Loved our stay at Shanghai La cairns! The room was spacious and the AC was comfortable. The bed was comfortable and the choice of pillows helped make it feel like home. The bathroom was a good size and water pressure was ok - shower head was a bit old so it dribbled a bit but still enough to clean. The TV and chromecast was good and worked well in the room. The kettle was a bit dirty inside as though someone had put tea bags in it. The grounds were wonderful, parking was easy, and the pool and pool bar were very convenient. The pool lounges however feel like they had worn through the foam, and I could feel a metal pole through the middle which made it hard to get comfortable."

"All around excellence. Great view of the bay. Short walk to the boardwalk. Easy walk to the pier. Breakfast was great. The staff is just the best. We felt welcomed by everyone and were well taken care of. I recommend the Riley to anyone coming to Cairns."

Novotel Cairns Oasis Resort

"We chose this hotel as the relaxation part of our trip, and overall it didn't disappoint. The resort itself was lovely, and we really enjoyed our stay. The only thing that let it down was our arrival. We were initially told that our two rooms would not be together, which wasn't acceptable as we had booked them back in December. After a lengthy discussion, the staff were able to find us two rooms in the same block, which we appreciated. We also experienced an issue with our room keys. When we returned to our room, we couldn't get in. The gentleman on reception wasn't particularly helpful and advised that the manager was on the phone and would be at least 30 minutes. We weren't offered any refreshments or an alternative while we waited, which was disappointing. After waiting around 30 minutes, I returned to reception to ask again, and the manager came over and replaced the battery in the door lock, resolving the issue. Considering this was the most expensive accommodation of our trip, we expected a smoother arrival experience and a higher level of customer service from reception. Despite these issues, we still enjoyed our stay and felt the hotel was a great place to relax."

Cairns Sheridan Hotel

"We had two rooms on 5th floor. Very clean, large comfortable rooms, with balconies. Walk to Esplanade (not close, but not real far). Restaurant on-site had good food, with very good desserts :) Plenty of parking that was covered. Pool is small and at edge of sidewalk/ road, wouldn't choose hotel for a pool resort retreat, but we would return."

The Oceanfront Cairns

"This is an old hotel, built around 45 years ago but with beautiful sea views and it's being refurbished. It doesn't feature the latest amenities in your room, but it tries hard. A couple of things would add to the room experience like a coffee maker, extra pillows and an improved TV with Internet."

"The hotel is in a great location to walk around and very safe. The rooms are large and clean, but the hotel didn’t look like the online pictures."

Cairns Colonial Club Resort

"A great stay! Was not walkable to the main esplanade is the only real complaint. Staff was super quick and helpful when our smoke detector went off in the middle of the night. The pool area looked great, especially for families, but we did not use due to timing of other activities."
