"Nice hotel, very close to jaguar trail and the beach. Was a 5/10 min walk into town for restaurants. As it is slightly outside the town it was nice and quiet.Room basic but had hot water and wi fi.Staff great and helped me navigate paying my park fees online. "

"Petit hôtel familial, chambre correcte .un peu loin du centre mais plus calme ..5mn des embarquements .
Accès un peu perturbant car on se perd un peu dans les ruelles du village mais on s’y fait très vite . 3mn de la mer 3mn des restos
petit déjeuner simple mais correct .
Ambiance très sympa.."

"This guest house is great. The staff are so helpful. Emmanuel on reception contacted us in advance to give us really useful travel advice. The ferry dropped us straight to the guest house so we didn’t have to carry our bags a long distance. We were in the lagoon room which had an amazing view. Really good value for money. I definitely recommend this place. "

"Worst experience I have ever made with a Hotel. Not sure if the other reviews are bought or not. We had a room with blood stains, the „booked out hotel “ was filled with 1 family, sheets weren’t washed and yellowish and we were asked to smoke crack by a homeless man in front of the Hotel. They charged 140€ for the boat pickup, after all we left after 1 day because of the condition of the room. Even though we got promised a refund we got nothing back but one night. Terrible."

Aninga Lodge
10/10 Excellent
"Our stay for our family of 4 at Aninga Lodge was fantastic. The room was clean and convenient. We spent a lot of time at the pool with the kids, they loved it, especially when the monkeys and toucans were hanging out in the trees. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The only downside we found was the transportation between the hotel and Tortuguero town. There is a boat provided for the hotel every few hours, but it isn't often enough to be convenient. The other option is to take a taxi boat, but at $4/person it gets a bit expensive for a round trip for a family of 4. They could also do a better job of making sure their boat drivers look for you when you reserve a space on their boat. When we first arrived, we had scheduled a ride on the boat and they just told us to be at the main dock in Tortuguero 10 minutes in advance. We expected them to have a sign or at least call out our names or the name of the lodge. That didn't happen and the docks are busy so we had no idea which boat to get on. We ended up missing the boat. "
"Excellent stay at Mawamba lodge. Gardens around the ground are great and we saw sloths and Toucans a short walk from our room. Breakfast was great as was the dinner we had at the restaurant. Pool can get quite busy with families and children. Town is only a short walk away or they can provide a river taxi. Also took part in the tours arranged by the hotel which was fantastic with a very knowledgeable tour guide. Would highly recommend it visiting Tortuguero "
"Really authentic place. Beautiful grounds, we saw lots of birds here, and big iguanas. The swimming pool is beautiful and relaxing. Comfy rooms. Make sure to book your tours from here. We booked our turtle tour and canoe tour from here. Our turtle guide is miss Nori from the hotel. She is beyond amazing! She is local, so knowledgeable and does patrols along the beach to protect the turtles. Really admirable!"
"These property is in the middle of a lagoon and you can only access by boat (like alll tortuguero) it has an amazing forest with lots of animals, we saw monkey birds etc.
The room is confortable it has all you need"
"AC was excellent and much needed in hot, humid climate. Awesome view. Family room was excellent for cost value. Unfortunately, new obnoxious bar next door plays terrible music late into the night. Not the fault of the guesthouse and maybe not an issue mid week. "

We visited national park to see turtles laying eggs, unfortunately she Borykng the hole before laying eggs but we did see the turtle going back to the sea and the hole shed dug, still a memorable experience
A highlight were the iguanas lounging around the pool with us and the macaws hanging out in the trees "
