"Nice hotel right off Crescent Ave, which is the main road coming into Avalon from the ferry. Our room had a balcony which was nice to open up to the ocean breezes. It was nice to be within walking distance of everything. The staff were nice and helpful. The place underwent a renovation a few years ago so the place is still in pretty decent condition. Modern shower and vanity. Cutesy island-ish room. I don't know why people are raving about the breakfast, but it's just a little more than basic continental. The Catalina Coffee & Cookie company right outside the hotel is really good though. Great cold brew and breakfast sandwiches/burritos. Get there early, though, because there is always a line after 10AM."

Aurora Hotel

"We chose the Aurora to celebrate our anniversary on Catalina Island. The staff was amazing and incredibly helpful. We loved their rooftop lounge, the bed was very comfortable, and the breakfast was pretty good considering it was included. It’s an older hotel that has been updated over the years so there are some quirks that come with older bones. Only 2 issues I had were me being too impatient to wait for the water to heat up for my shower, and the WiFi was spotty. Other than that, we had a wonderful time and can’t wait to come back!"

"Great room! Not a far walk from the Main Street and everything else. Wouldn’t complain about anything, except that it’s a bit old and feels outdated. Not bad at all though! Would recommend it."

"Hotel Catalina Studio 9 was clean, comfortable, with a beautiful sitting area outside on the cozy covered porch! There was no air conditioning in my room, but the foyer was cooled and relaxing. We brought portable, personal fans, which really helped during the hot spell which occurred September 11 - 13, 2026. There was limited amenities; a small fridge and microwave was provided in the room and nice tv, but no coffee provided, but lovely body wash and 2 in 1 shampoo/conditioner was included in the room with a hair dryer. Since travel to the island required various times of ferry or helicopter service, the kind staff allowed the patrons to leave luggage in foyer, until departure! What a Blessing!!! As travel on foot and shuttle would have been difficult while toting bags. We were able to pick them back up, closer to departure time! The staff is available in person between hours of 9am - 6pm, with a phone number for emergencies after hours. Overall, 5 Star Rating!!! Will stay there, again!"
