"Super clean and comfortable. Very attentive staff. We were in town for business and needed to stay an additional night. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate the request even though it was a busy week and they were at capacity for bookings. The second they had a cancellation they notified us and we were able to keep our room an additional night rather than having to move elsewhere. Will stay again."

"My husband grew up seeing this place and always wanted to stay here. So when he had to go back up to Michigan I thought it would be a nice surprise to book him a room here. First of all they said they had no rooms available. This was after booking the reservation (through Expedia). They all of a sudden managed to come up with a room - room 330 which was apparently akin to the janitor's closet. I *specifically* paid extra for a city view. He was on the third floor and his view was of the building across the street. Many areas of the room were dirty such as the table and counter spaces. The refrigerator only went down to 50 degrees. And was missing a leg. A guy came up to look at it, 'reset' it and it still only had 3 legs and went down to 50 degrees. The first night he only slept under the blanket but the second night he went under the sheets and spent most of the night not sleeping and scratching himself raw. He is covered in itchy bites of some sort. After the lack of responsiveness on the refrigerator issue he felt there was absolutely no point in taking this up with the front desk, especially since he was checking out this morning anyway. I spent quite a bit of money to do this for him and he could have stayed at the Super 8 and had a better experience and saved me a pile of money."

"The hotel itself is fine, especially for the price. We had a major issue with the front desk staff. My son and I were attempting to purchase an ice cream from a freezer in the lobby. The desk clerk accused my son of stealing an ice cream and placing it in the pocket of his swim trunks. It was absurd. It did not happen. But he insisted and even made my son turn his pockets inside out in the middle of the lobby with others around. It was completely false, baseless, and humiliating. I was furious but just kept my cool and paid for our two $3 ice cream bars and left. My 11-year-old son was upset and embarrassed. I have no idea what the young man was thinking. He seemed a bit awkward during the check in process, but I didn't think much of it. But the ice cream episode was totally unacceptable. It's unfortunate because it totally tainted a good weekend for our family and an otherwise pleasant experience."

"My stay at Holiday Inn downtown Grand Rapids was great and very comfortable. They offered a breakfast buffet for $16.99, but we did not check it out. This hotel was clean, the staff was great, and they offered a free shuttle bus to downtown events. I recommend this hotel and I will stay here again. "

"I can say that when we arrived, the staff was welcoming and friendly. The room was fine at first glance, but the bathroom was not clean. There was hair in the tub and on the floor, and not just one stray hair that had been missed. We left for a few hours and when we came back, the entire floor smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. It was so bad that our clothes smelled like smoke when we went to the basketball tournament the next day…even though we opened the window to try and air it out a bit. My son also woke up with sinus issues, as he has adverse reactions to cigarette smoke, which made the situation worse since he was competing that day in the tournament. There were also other guests running and yelling in the halls until around midnight, and it seemed like they had been drinking. We usually rely on these trips to get a good night of rest before games, but this time we were completely unrested. We travel often for tournaments and usually stay at Wyndham hotels. This was easily the worst experience we have had."
