Chateau des Comtes de Challes

10/10 Excellent

"We loved our stay at the chateau. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. While they do not offer room service, I was able to get coffee each morning from the front desk. Our dinner in the restaurant was delicious. We were within an hours drive of spectacular scenery and loved returning to the chateau each night. We didn’t find restaurants in the town, but we had lunch in lovely towns during the day and had picnic dinners on the grounds of the chateau in the evening."

"The actual hotel was very functional. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and I slept really well. Having blackout drapes and sound proofed room also helped. The kitchenette and fridge were a useful bonus. Free coffees and teas were available 24/7. The sitting area was well appointed and very relaxing. The staff were helpful and very friendly. The only negative comment was that parking in the area was extremely difficult to find! The parking area recommended was full (and 14 euros per night!). Maybe a note should be added as to alternative parking where visitors can stay overnight would have been helpful. It was a Saturday night so maybe it would not have been so bad any other time? But we almost cancelled our reservation because of this."

"We stayed here for 2 nights on our way back north. The hotel is lovely and the rooms very comfortable, the restaurant was closed whilst we were there but the bar serves a nice selection without needing to go out. The hotel is ideally positioned to visit Annecy or do what we did and visit Mont Revard with outstanding views of the lake right next to the hotel, the surrounding countryside is beautiful. The breakfast buffet is good with enough choice to fill you up and there’s coffee available in your room which is a nice touch. Would definitely stay here again."
