"Clean room, close to public transportation, beautiful views. Breakfast was good. Restaurant was closed for a private event (no prior notice given) when we arrived, which was disappointing as we’d had a long travel day and just wanted to get dinner and some rest. The front desk person that first evening wasn’t especially helpful. Quiet location. Decent stay overall."

"Though we only stayed one night the Apex Waterloo was a delight. We arrived in the early afternoon, way before check-in but we were upgraded to a two story accommodation that was available immediately (for which we were grateful after a long flight)! We were surprised to find air conditioning. Most hotels in Scotland do not have it and the summer days can get quite warm. The hotel location is perfect for sightseeing, shopping, and dining. We enjoyed cocktails in the lounge after our day of sightseeing and breakfast was wonderful. The hotel stored our luggage while we toured the castle and unfortunately, we did not have time to enjoy the pool or spa but we will definitely return! Thank you!"

"The Hotel Ceilidh-Donna is a fabulous little gem right near Arthur’s Seat. The hotel is a well maintained older building which we found to be spotlessly clean. The breakfasts are brilliant and cater for all dietary requirements. The buffet selection is fresh and varied, whilst the hot options are freshly cooked and delicious. Kevin was particularly friendly, welcoming and helpful - he was able to book us a taxi for an early morning tour and provided a great packed breakfast. If you want a spacious room in a lovely, quiet area with great breakfast and a hearty welcome, then this is the place for you. If, however, you prefer a more impersonal and commercial hotel in the centre of Edinburgh, then this is probably not the place for you. Would highly recommend and most definitely would stay again when visiting Edinburgh."

"Dorstan House is a very comfortable guest house in a quiet neighborhood about 15 minutes by bus from the center of Edinburgh. Several major bus lines run just a block away. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Dorstan House allows you both to enjoy Edinburgh and avoid the crowds that are elsewhere in the city."
