Overall, our stay at the Holiday Inn Express was a mixed experience. The room was good, although the TV was definitely outdated. The breakfast was delicious, but during a busy weekend it seemed like the hotel was short-staffed. They had a hard time keeping up with the demand for breakfast items and even keeping enough towels available. The shower had great water pressure, which was a plus, but unfortunately the drain was very slow. While I was taking my shower, the water continued to build up around my feet, leaving me standing in several inches of water. I almost slipped, which was concerning and could have resulted in a serious injury. This is definitely something that should be addressed for guest safety. The biggest issue for me was the bed—it was hard as a rock and made it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. The most disappointing part, however, was the billing. At check-in, I was told there would be a $50 incidental hold, which I completely understood. However, after checking out, my card was charged again for the exact amount of my stay. When I questioned it, I was told the original charge was only a hold and would disappear within five days. I feel this should have been explained much more clearly at check-in because seeing another charge after checking out was concerning and confusing. The whole hotel smelled musty and humid. The vent in the bathroom was not working. The tub faucet leaked and after a shower the bathroom was wet and humid both days of our stay. We got a room for four but only had 2 towels and the bodywash, shampoo and conditioner were empty. The ceiling over the tub was moldy. The coffee machine is our room had not been serviced. One coffee pod and no cups or sugar. The hot tub was empty and the pool had so much chlorine it was unusable. We got in and could only stay in for a few minutes and were sneezing and irritated eyes for the next day. The one dryer in the laundry area was out of order so our extremely chlorinated clothes had to stay in the bathroom and was irritating the be breathing. With kids the pool is a big part of a trip so they were pretty disappointed. Only 3 towels in the pool area and cigarette ashes on the chairs. They stress no smoking or vaping and a $250 charge if caught doing it on the property and yet the whole hallway on our floor smelled like marijuana. The breakfast was good on the first day of our stay but kept running out on the weekend. There was only one ice machine in the whole place and it kept breaking down. Everything looked good online and had high ratings. It was very misleading and a very different reality upon arrival. The only good things I can say is that the breakfast was decent and plentiful during a weekday and the parking was free. The staff was friendly.
