"A delightful hotel, very near the station and all of the attractions of Durham. Polite and attentive staff, and a lovely spa and gym. The room was spacious, clean, and luxurious, and we loved it. The only minor problem was that there weren’t a whole lot of hot vegetarian options at breakfast, but that’s really splitting hairs. A remarkable stay overall."

"It was pleasant enough. The staff we encountered were really friendly. The decor is a bit dated. Smelt a bit fusty … but it’s an old building so what do you expect. Lovely grounds. I struggled to sleep as the bed was too soft for me (personal preference). Not sure I’d stay again but did the job for the evening."

"The was an amazing find, not often one gets to stay in a CASTLE!! The grounds are so beautiful and many period features kept, there is even a Dungeon and a Ballroom for hire 😆. The breakfast had a selection of cooked to order hot food including a vegan choice."
