"The staff is amazing, although the numbering of room seems confusing but the cafe waiter is patient enough to bring me to the right room despite it's not even his job - this is going beyond his duties and he didn't demanded any tips but he deserved one"

"Visited Grand Mercure in 2026, after the refurbishing. The landscaping works at the entrance is still being upgraded, and the entire hotel looks brand new. The team of staff were all efficient and warm, from the reception, concierge, to the Ambrosia Restaurant. They have a convenient shuttle to the mall, with a brand new van. The kueh lapis and grilled sausages at the breakfast buffet were delicious, and the chefs did the grilling on the spot. Will be keen to try the Sup Buntut next time around. Will definitely recommend travellers to visit this hotel, excellent experience in Batam. "

"Had a short stay in Ayola hence did not try out the spa. The room I had was a twin bedded and condition of the room was fine, except that there's no hairdryer in the room. The toilet had a bad sewage smell which fortunately for me, I had some lemongrass essential oil with me, which I had literally poured into the drainage and it helps, had to do daily for the 2 nights. Didn't use the swimming pool but heard from one of the house guest, that the pool needs cleaning. The Restaurant staff are helpful, pleasant and quick with the service, especially Ms Moly who is always so charming with her lovely smile as well as 2 others male staff (unfortunately didn't get their names), they too should be well recommended for their wonderful service in the breakfast room. Breakfast is very basic and their replenishment is not automatically which you had to check with the staff and only then it'll be replenish. Overall, it's pleasant experience staying with Ayola and hopefully to see more improvement around the property. "

"Front office staffs were polite, helpful and friendly. Room was made available to us 1 hr before check in time. Room was clean and with standard amenities. Location just 5 mi s walk from Batam Center Ferry Terminal. Opposite hotel is a shopping mall that have a variety of food options, hypermarket, Starbucks, bakery etc."

"The pool area is quite narrow. To make things worse, smoking was allowed anywhere. It could also be no one was enforcing no smoking at the poolside. I was with my kids and we have to keep moving to different parts of the pool to avoid 2nd hand smokes."

"Pool was very well maintained and clean. Saltwater lagoon was an interesting feature as well."

"The room was dirty and neglected, chair on veranda broke when I sat in it, doors did not close properly so mosquito and large red ants came in at night, bathroom had electricity plug next to shower so not safe to use, kitchen did not have utensils to cook a meal. Check in was 3 not 2 as on confirmation. Receptionists were dismissive and unhelpful, breakfast was of poor quality and lacking in choice, fresh coffee had to be paid for at breakfast it was not included as told at check in. The hot tub was filthy and unusable, the large swimming pool had exposed wires in it and the smaller one had chairs floating in it and was full of sand and debris.The resort in general was dirty, tired and had rubbish everywhere. Room service food was constantly over an hour late and stone cold when arrived. We ended up leaving a day early and would have left the day after arrival if I could have booked our next hotel earlier!!! "
