"This was excellent for our one night stay. I was most impressed with the cleanliness. The room felt fresh even though it is an older motel. The bedding (crisp, clean) and towels ( thick, fluffy , fresh, clean) were wonderful! The pillows themselves could be updated. Our room was ready for occupation when we arrived a bit early. In spite of being on a main road, it was peaceful and quiet for our night’s sleep. We would suggest a new bath mat as ours didn’t grip the tub well and made exiting the tub/shower a bit precarious."

"We liked the breakfast buffet, and the blackout curtains (once we found them-user error) Free parking was nice. Pool area is fairly small unfortunately. Pancake maker was an exciting draw for the kids but sadly was broken that weekend."

"We were a family of 12 and booked 3 oceanfront rooms for a total of 15 nights. The lodge means a lot to her, as she used to come here with her late husband when they owned a property in Campbell River. I was a little worried after reading recent reviews, but overall, we’re glad we chose Painter’s Lodge. Our rooms were spacious and renovated, with beautiful, unobstructed views of the harbour and shoreline. The property is beautiful, the pool was clean and spacious, and the gym and tennis court appeared well maintained. There were a few issues. The biggest was the music being blasted from a speaker right outside Room 10, starting at 7 am and continuing until very late at night. For a hotel that advertises enjoying coffee to the sound of waves and seabirds, blasting the Bee Gees at full volume at 7 am was honestly ridiculous. We complained several times. It took two days and another guest complaining before the music was finally stopped near the upper rooms. The large wooden bed frames also have very sharp edges, and unfortunately my daughter scratched her leg quite badly. The mattresses could also be better for a 4star hotel. A huge shout-out to Patrick, the bar manager, who made our evening by the fire one of the highlights of our family reunion. This guy is worth his weight in gold and deserves a raise! We found the restaurant quite pricey and only ate there once, but overall, we’re happy we stayed at Painter's Lodge."

"We would stay here again. Not super fancy but rooms were clean and had everything we needed. The room/bathroom was a decent size and seemed newer. Breakfast was great. Enough options to make most ppl happy. Eggs, hash browns, bacon or sausage, breads, muffins, waffles, yogurts, cereals, juices. The location didn’t matter to us because we had a car. It is located just off a main road and there are restaurants within walking distance. One suggestion that would make such a big difference in first impression…the carpets in the hallways need a really good cleaning. They were pretty dirty and the first thing someone sees before they get to their room. (The rooms do not have carpets-I liked this). Everywhere in parksville area is expensive to stay so if you can look past the dirty hallway carpets it is good value with breakfast included."
