We were greeted in fluent English by super friendly staff to what seemed like a very empty resort. We believe it only seemed empty due to renovations to the second tower. "This is a wonderful place to spend a few days. The ryokan is very authentically Japanese. The staff was helpful wherever we needed them. The food Is good, though our best meals were in restaurants in Takayama. Most of all, the hot springs are AWESOME. The water is so thick with minerals, so rich. We didn’t want to leave."

"We lived our stay at this very authentic ryokan like hotel. The staff were generous and kind, we were able to book the private onsen for a very reasonable price to accommodate our tattoos and our family going together. The half board was delicious. This is not a luxury stay so much as a real Japanese cultural experience and we had a great time as a family of four USA folk with teens."
