"There was nobody on reception when we arrived on reception at approximately 3:30 p.m. We then realised that we had to pick a telephone up on the reception desk that rang somebody. A grumpy lady then came to check us in. The restaurant staff were lovely and helpful and the gentleman we paid was very helpful. The hotel is old and needs freshening up. It looks dirty and run down on the landings"

"We reserved a superior room, which was very large. The floorboards were uneven and mostly bare. The furniture was threadbare. The bed was only so so but we had nice linens. The bathroom was modern and very nice. Good amenities provided including a bottle of water and meringues as a welcome. We had a surprisingly reasonably priced dinner in the dinner.
