"Stayed at this hotel for one night after returning from a holiday. I’ll start off by saying, the staff who were actually there were amazing, and totally blameless. However, this hotel is abysmal. We arrived just as 2 busloads of French tourists were checking in. The poor receptionist was run off her feet, but stopped what she was doing to help us. She explained that the hotel was closing the following Wednesday for refurbishment and the staff had been told that they were losing their jobs. ...

"Reception staff were wonderful; from great restaurant recommendation to help with our international cell phone problem. Breakfast buffet was wonderful and included a haggis (with other options of course). Our room had no USB ports but we made do. WIFI was good. Bed was slightly hard for our liking. "

"Our first room was a fair distance underground with no views in a modern building which could only be accessed through spa reception. Very odd considering we booked to stay in a castle. Changed rooms for a price to main castle. Grand room with 4 poster but on closer inspection carpet was full of holes. Dead insect on bed. No coffee machine. No minibar. Old and tired decor. Had our small dog as classed as dog friendly. Not allowed in restaurant. Not allowed in bar. Only allowed in far corner of...

"The staff was fantastic! From the front desk to the young lady who runs breakfast by herself, everyone was very helpful and welcoming. The rooms were very nice and we enjoyed the dining room and the bar."
