We stayed one night in Dholpur--a quiet outpost on the road to Agra--at the Raj Niwas, a 19th-century palace hedged by private gardens. We arrived late and were met by the proprietress, an animated woman appropriately named ‘Bubbles’, who settled us into a cavernous suite at the top of an elegant staircase. With weary glee we examined our room's elaborate bath with eight shower heads, ornately furnished dressing chamber, and 40-foot ceiling decorated with intricate, glittering tile. "We arrived at the Hotel, showed our booking reservation details to the receptionist. She said that the hotel was full and we could not stay there. She took us to the Laxman hotel next door. It was of lesser quality than the one we booked. Also no breakfast provided which we had paid for. We only stayed for one night. The room, especially the bathroom was dirty. Our friends room had dirty bed linen and he had to ask for it to be changed. When we got up early next morning, there was no running...

"We enjoyed our stay here at Taj Resorts. Pros: 1. Helpful staff. They helped us book our taxi to Delhi when we left. 2. Very clean facilities, and the bed was comfortable. 3. Nice rooftop pool and view of Taj Mahal 4. Amazing location, quiet street and only a 10 minute walk to the Taj Mahal. 5. They had a gift shop right inside the hotel, with reasonably priced souvenirs. Cons: 1. Very minor, but the restaurant doesn't serve alcohol."

"ITC Mughal was a wonderful experience. The staff was extremely efficient, the food at Taj Bano and Peshawari was excellent and there is an interesting sampling of shops within the hotel. The hotel grounds are nice for a small walk and the puppet show was adorable. I would highly recommend it. "
