The General Palmer Hotel

"Everything about the General Palmer was perfect. The old world charm coupled with modern conviences. The hotel is so charming that it transports you back a century. The breakfast room is right off the enclosed porch that has tables for an intimate breakfast looking out into town. The hotel is clean, extremely comfortable with great beds and very friendly and helpful staff. We stayed here because we took the Durango / Silverton train which was right next door, very easy walking distance. Highly recommend this property!"

"The staff was super helpful in directing us to the amenities and nearby activities. We stayed during the off season therefore some of the amenities were out of order due to maintenance but still a very enjoyable experience!"

"I found this place charming. Interesting and with plenty of dining choices, not to mention in the heart of everything, I was glad to discover this place. People seemed to be having a great time in the other bar/dining spots, but I dined at The Mahogany Grille in the hotel and I was grateful I'd made the decision to do so my first night. The tuna appetizer and salmon entrée were exquisite. The staff was very pleasant and really the only potential downside is the closeness to the whistle of the train. Thankfully that seemed to stop around 8:30 PM and possibly started around 8:30 AM. I will likely stay here again."

"Beautiful property! Great location and amenities! Only issue was the dog barking in the next room all night. Front desk contacted them but what are they going to do, really? Can't stop the dog from barking. The inconsiderate owners were the problem, not the resort."
