"La Mezzaluna is a short walk from Barga Gallicano train station, and buses to Lucca. Rita is amazingly hospitable & welcoming, and did so much to make our stay enjoyable. Rooms are very nice, buffet breakfast set us up for the day.
There is a bus up to Barga during the day, and a taxi back in evening.If you visit Barga, this is the place to stay. "

I ordered a bottle of wine and they sent another that was 3 times the price without telling me.
They threw us out because they said they had to set up for breakfast while they had other tables still sitting. We were still drinking our wine.

"The description doesn't match the reality. The place is run-down. The road is nearby, and the room is very noisy. Despite the stated private bathroom, there's only one for all rooms. The owner takes a deposit and then makes up excuses to pay as little as possible (flexible arrival, linen fee, etc.), and despite an initially favorable offer, it ends up being quite a hefty sum. The photos show a beautiful, clean house. In reality, it's old, neglected, and cluttered. I don't recommend it. Avoid."

"Cool comfortable house high in the hills. Lovely setting a mix of gardens, olive and cherry orchards and woodland. We breakfasted to the song of blackcaps with bee eaters, hoopoes and buzzards glimpsed in flight. We felt very close to wildlife. The best pool we have ever swumIn. Clear mountain air. Delightful Barga and other villages nearby. Good places to eat within 10 minites drive. Lovely hosts, nearby if we had a problem but discrete. Arrived with delicious homegrown cherries and courgettes. "

"The villa offered us everything we needed for an extended stay in beautiful Barga. The owners were lovely and provided us with everything we required. The pool area and views from the terrace in particular are stunning. We like to cook and we had pretty much everything we needed to be able to do as we liked. The sleeping areas are fine. Two things to keep in mind. There is no air conditioning so you need to be careful and use the shutters and windows to best effect. The second is the hill leading to the town centre. It takes 15 - 20 mins to walk there, all uphill. This wasn’t an issue for us but might be for some. All in all I would definitely recommend this villa."

"My family and I stayed at this beautiful location 9 years ago. We all promised to go back one day and this was the year. The accommodations were excellent. We had a chef prepared meal at the property which was unforgettable. We were even fortunate enough to be there to help harvest the grapes.
Daniela is a wonderful hostess and I would recommend this property to anyone looking to spend time in the Tuscan region. You will not be disappointed. "

"Great property with three good size bedrooms (one downstairs). Dinning table in the kitchen and a choice of places to sit outside, outside areas have stunning views.
The property and grounds need a little TLC, the grounds were a bit overgrown and the property could do with a little bit of money spent on it, in particular in the kitchen and bathrooms. Plus a thorough clean. However, it is a beautiful house in an amazing location"
