"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Wonderful Stay at the Boat and Horses I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Boat and Horses in Oldham, and I couldn’t be more impressed. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, making check-in smooth and stress-free. The atmosphere throughout the hotel is warm and inviting, with a lovely balance of modern comfort and traditional charm. My room was spotless, well-appointed, and surprisingly spacious, with everything I needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and I appreciated the thoughtful touches like tea and coffee facilities, quality toiletries, and fast, free Wi-Fi. One of the standout features is the pub and restaurant on-site. The food was absolutely delicious—generous portions, well-cooked, and served promptly by friendly staff. The views of the canal just outside added a really peaceful touch to the dining experience. Location-wise, the Boat and Horses is perfectly situated for exploring both Oldham and nearby Manchester, with great transport links and a quiet setting that’s ideal for unwinding after a busy day. Mercure Manchester Norton Grange Hotel & Spa

"Stayed on a sunday so the hotel was pretty quiet. Room 303 was a twin i asked for. Was lovely. Had air con. Nice bath with really hot water..beds were comfy too. The pool and spa was great and it was included in the price. Steam room, sauna, ice room, big jacuzzi that opens up outside. We didn't eat at the hotel so not sure on the food but the hotel itself is great x"

"We held our wedding reception here, they could not have made things run any better. Very organised and smooth service during the meal. Nothing we asked for was any trouble to the staff they just got on with it. I would recommend this venue , it was brilliant. Thank you to all at the Royal Toby "

Great place to stay

"The property itself is a little off the beaten track and set in some beautiful countryside. The stable rooms in which I stayed are big, clean well equipped,oder and comfortable. Although there is no onsite catering for evening meals they have a kitchen for reheating your own stuff (microwave) and a large breakfast room in which you can eat takeaways. The room itself way lovely. Full length windows at the front, a big comfortable bed and a large, decent TV. WiFi was good too. All in all I found it ideal for my needs. I didn't try the continental breakfast which was available for a small up charge, but looking in the breakfast room there looked to be a good choice of muffins, crumpets toast cereal as well as juices rolls cheese and yoghurt. Sure it would be lovely if you choose it. Recommended."

The Lodge with idilic views parking free wifi

Host cancelled after our check in time and we had arrived to area

"Our check in time was 3pm and although the booking was accepted and property details provided, we were not send the code to access the key box. We messaged the host for the final access details as we were arriving and got no response. We called VRBO who provded details to contact the host directly and also no response. We then recieved a message at 3:45pm (after the 3pm check in time) cancelling the booking due to a 'water leak'. Why the host was checking for water leaks after the time we were meant to have access to the property and had not checked the property prior to this is unknown and the host has not responded to our follow up query. We would also expect communication as soon as an issue is known about, not due to us chasing them. I would recommend avoiding this property as based on our experience, the host is unreliable and you could end up stranded in Manchester without somewhere to stay."
