Sunshine House

This unique house began as a duplex in 1958 but midway through building became a single family home. Since 1958, the house has had two owners, both within the same Nicholson family. It has 4 bedrooms and two baths with large living space in the middle of the house. It is situated on a corner lot with a front driveway and a back driveway. The back entrance is handicap accessible and one bathroom is also handicap accessible. A nice brick patio in the backyard allows for grilling, dining alfresco and relaxing under large trees. The house has floor to ceiling windows in the east living room which allows the morning sun to make the room warm and cozy. This house is perfect for families, couples, family reunions, or girl-friend get-a-way weekends.

HQ for a weekend event in the area

Exactly what we needed as a homebase for events in the area for our group of seniors. Several very comfortable areas encouraged our group activities and conversations. Kitchen had all we needed for food prep. Great local area for walking.

Fabulous!

Stays like this are what I love about VRBO. Not only is the property an amazing time capsule but the host graciously considered even the small comforts. Plenty of room to spread out, comfortable beds, lots of thoughtful details. I can heartily recommend staying here and would do so again.

My husband and I stayed at this property with a friend for a wedding. The house was clean and the check in/check out process was seamless. The house is in a quiet part of town. We would stay at this property again!!

A lovely place

This home was quite nice. My whole family loved it. It has a lot of nice touches and character that made it a joy to stay at. There were nice amenities, good communication and it as a whole was a great accommodation. We would happily stay here again

Great space for spending time and relaxing

We were in town for a family event and this house was great. We had plenty of room and amenities for our time. Close to groceries, playground and other shops. Comfortable furnishings. Definitely recommend.

Clean, spacious and quiet option on the I70 corridor

Enjoy finding small town homes to stay in and this was a great find! Tons of room, convenient location to local grocery store, right next door to playground space (convenient if you have younger ones who need to burn off some travel energy), and the home has great character and a cool retro feel. Great clear communication leading up to trip and access easy and straightforward.

Weekend getaway

We love this house, and we love Ellis. The house is great for a family. We have an adult daughter with a wheelchair. This home works well for her. We have staued before and hope to visit again!

Great House

Our family was in town for a family reunion and this was a great house. The house had plenty of space for our family. It was a short walk to the the main road in town and the grocery store. We would definitely rent again next time we are in Ellis. It would be nice to have filtered water in the house since the city water is hard.

Loved it

You could feel the family vibe as soon as you got there. You take you stuff to your bedroom, then everyone just meets in the family room and you just relaxed into conversation. Kids started playing on the floor, we popped in a movie and just enjoyed being together. I recommend it.

Charming - like a scene out of the Brady Bunch

We SO enjoyed our time at Sunshine. There is plenty of space to spread out and hang with family. The beds are comfortable, and it was nice to have "wings" to the house with two bedrooms and one bath each. It worked great!Our host was very responsive and helpful. I appreciated having a few welcome snacks and some bottled water. The TV has Roku access but not cable. There are LOADS of DVDs available to have a movie night (and popcorn to make, too!).It was just what we needed to gather before and after a family wedding. Thanks for having us!

Convenient and comfortable

I'm traveling back to Ellis frequently for family affairs. This was the first time I stayed at the Sunshine House. Stayed there with my brother and sister-in-law. The house is layed with bedroom areas are on each end, so we had privacy and didn't disturb others. This house has a ton of character! There was a cozy living area we had late night conversations. We didn't use the kitchen but it looked adequate with plenty of supplies. If you visit during nice weather the patio area looks inviting. It is an older home but was very clean. I would stay here again.

House was clean however TP supply, dishwasher soap, and paper towels were not adequate. Had to purchase locally. Cooking skillets need updating. Better organization of kitchen supplies. Overall though a very nice place to relax after a long day in the field chasing whitetails

Great Stay

This was the second time we stayed here on an overnight stopover during our summer vacation. The house is easy to find. Not far off the interstate but far enough that you can appreciate the small town feel. Plenty of room for our family of five which includes our disaed adult daughter. In addition to the spacious, comfortable home, the back patio is perfect for relaxing in the evening. We booked our next stay before we checked out. Looking forward to spending a weekend away from it all in this wonderful place where the family can enjoy the peace and comfort, while I explore the nearby history. Especially looking forward to the Ellis Railroad Museum. (Im a bit of a train geek) We love this home, and anytime oir travels take us past Ellis, we'll probably spend a night or two here relaxing from the rigors of the road.

A handsome surprise on the plains

We normally don't pay much attention to decor and architecture at our VRBO's. Hygiene, comfort, and location are more important to us. But this house is an exception. It's mid-century modern features prompted us to explore all it's nooks & crannies. There are eye-catching surprises everywhere. But on to business. The whole rambling house was very clean. The beds were comfortable. The east bathroom is large & handicap-accessible with a walk-in shower. The kitchen was clean and had everything we needed. And the owners provided some nice snacks. There is a lot of room, and the floor-plan puts 2 bedrooms and a bathroom on opposite ends of the house which provides some privacy for large groups. The Wifi worked fine and we did not use the TV. Communications with the owner was smooth and trouble-free.
