"Stayed for a week in Little Pythorn cottage, the location is on a remote sheep farm and you get that feeling that you are in the middle of nowhere, this was great for us as we liked the isolation. The cottage is finished to a very high standard and no expense has been spared with the fixtures and fittings, my wife loved the sheep theme throughoutI would recommend the cottage if you are looking for the peace and quiet that the remote location gives you but if you are expecting to be able to walk...

"Absolutely brilliant cottage. All new fixtures and fittings with everything you could need for your stay. The drains smell came and went- not sure where it came from and it didn’t really bother us. Location fantastic for walks along the coast and short drive to other coastal towns. Would recommend"

"Great accommodation with local shop and pub minutes away. Train station nearby to the stadium. Cottage was perfect for what we needed and the generous host left nibbles and drinks for our arrival."

"The cottage had been beautifully renovated and was located centrally in the old district of town. A couple of small things would have improved the stay-the stairs to the second storey were steep and a bannister rail would have been appreciated, several basic supply items were lacking- no tea bags or fire lighters to light the kindling and wood supplied, and the heating automatically turned off after short periods and not all heaters appeared to be working. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay."

"Fabulous property. Very well equipped. very very clean.Ideal for a wheelchair user, has excellent wet room. Lovely outside area with table chairs and sun beds a great addition.The host a lovely lady very welcoming.Would recommend"

"Clean and tidy had a problem with heating not working on Wednesday evening I messaged John and a gas engineer was out on Thursday to sort out the heating, would stay here again next time we’re in Durham. Food was lovely at the Bay Horse too"

"One of a series of barns on the farm, very comfortable, very relaxing, dog friendly and great for exploring the Durham/Gateshead countryside. "

"Fantastic cottage with amazing views. The cottage has almost everything you need making it a very relaxing experience. Fields as far as the eye can see. Farmer Andy and his cows are very friendly. We had a very small problem and it was sorted out very quickly. "

"Property was brilliant area excellent as I know it well being from Walker originally.Could not fault the cottage apart from the obviously inflated price for Sam Fender concert. As a Geordie this didn't go down too well. A must if you are a visitor to the area as it is set in an idyllic and central area for almost everything worth visiting in Newcastle area and beyond."

"This was my FAVOURITE stay out of my roadtrip around the UK, really fell in love with the place. It might be my princess side coming out but staying in a castle was such an experience. Highly recommend, the reception staff was so nice! We also had a drink at the library bar and ate at the restaurant which was delicious. Exceptional service all the way. It’s a hotel where a car is necessary to get around however, this should be considered when booking this hotel. This being said, I would visit again anytime! "
