"Needs to be shown better on the listing that the inn is un manned with no bar or food service. Had a small issue that was very quickly sorted out. Most likely will use again."

"Rooms are all in upper floors 2nd or above, no elevator/lifts made it difficult for elders. The rooms are well maintained. Water pressure/hot water is an issue."

"The lodge is beautiful in very peaceful area, it was very clean with everything we needed. We used it mainly for a base as we were traveling so only really slept there. The lodge is situated between 2 other properties and would benefit ( I’m my opinion) with blinds on all lower windows. The bed is very comfortable but a bit on the narrow side. "If you're travelling with kids it will be ideal: there is a soft play, activity room, and pool which are all clean and included. I didn't rate the breakfast, not as good a selection as other hotels and not that tasty. The rooms and communal areas are dated and pretty poor, but fairly clean. The highland hotel has a great veranda which I felt was under utilised by not opening the upstairs bar. For the price I paid it was about right, but it really needs renovating."

"Tombeck was nice, roomy, comfortable. Had a large kitchen fully stocked with cookware, oven, stove, kettle, microwave. We liked the large wooden dining table. A great place from which to explore Tomintoul and the Cairngorms. Also has a washing machine and dryer, but no instructions so took some time to figure them out (and the washing machine makes a loud noise and really shakes while running)."

"The Cairn Hotel is a lovely hotel in a great location, with friendly and helpful staff throughout my stay. "Can’t say enough good things about Muckrach Country House. The home is absolutely gorgeous. Our room was stunning. We had absolutely the best nights sleep of our whole trip! More importantly Donnie and the staff are the sweetest people! We only got to stay one night but wish we had more time to stay. Absolutely book it, you won’t be disappointed."

"It was a strange smell between our room and the restaurant area where we had to pass through our bags! The staff are fairly helpful. The location was lovely, but unfortunately the shower in our room didn’t work very well."

"Hotel room was modern and clean can’t fault, breakfast on the other hand was not so good , £12 for a fry up….pricey and not good, the fried egg was burnt the potato scone was like rubber and the haggis was all mush, came on a rectangle plate not round or square, not fit for purpose, whoever the cook is needs to learn how to fry an egg. I would stay at the hotel again and go for breakfast somewhere else."

Not a huge deal, but thought I’d note for future guests. It is a cute small town and convenient to hiking destinations. Also note there is not central air and the windows do not open more than a few inches, so on hot days, the room gets very stuffy. Not the fault of the hotel, though!"
